Petr Kalus to Columbus for Future Considerations

Apparently you can trade after the deadline; they just can't play in the playoffs. As for Kalus, well frankly I forgot we had him. What a disappointment.

I'm excited to see our future considerations

What the hell does that mean?

A bag of pucks, a pick depending on certain factors, etc. etc.

just think of team Finland's chances in international play if half of them play for the same team all year.

NOOOOOOOOO!

Says the only guy on this board who liked Kalus.

Too bad. The kid had tools and no brain. Happens all too often.

Is it safe to assume that 'future considerations' is most likely at least a 7th rounder?

If so, score.

bah. if you went back to the other forum you'd find that I liked Kalus. Thought he didn't get a fair shake...but then he really didn't do a whole lot with the chances he was given. Like Kobasew missing part of his brain.

I honestly think the guy wasn't a quick learner, and would end up chasing what the coaches were telling him, rather than just picking it up naturally and adapting it into his normal game.

Just a one-track mind.

Coach tells me to hit now. Coach tells me to play defense now. Coach tells me to score now. Coach tells me to fight now

Yet when he would focus on something, he would drop the other parts of his game.

ha, that pretty succinctly sums it up!

Still, he had potential to be fun to watch. something of a Khudobin effect, i guess, when you watch him play you could picture a million things going wrong with the decisions he was making on the ice.

lol.

Or maybe Kalus just thought the game on such a high level that only players like Gretzky and Jagr could understand him.

Terrible trade by the Wild. They say they want to win now and yet they trade away Kalus. Fletcher has no idea what he's doing. He's sinking this ship faster than DR did.

a few things a) since when have you ever been able to make trades after the trade deadline... b) what does futures consist of? like going to the blue jackets for free or like a 7th pick

Maybe the future considerations is to put a sign up outside their coliseum saying that Minnesota is the more successful franchise of the two?

I'm betting on "you pick up the tab at lunch" as the future consideration.

That or Rick Nash.

I got this response from Russo in my email

You can make trades for anybody, just can't play in nhl this year or play in playoffs. Ovechkin for crosby can happen even. For free

I've been saying that since the offseason. They just need Selanne and Saku here for "coaching positions" and the President of Finland should be at every home game.

We're not getting anything. Good move by Fletcher, opens up a contract spot for a college free agent if we need to offer him a contract for this season. We were at 49 before, now we're at 48, the maximum being 50. Kalus was obviously never going to amount to anything and would have been non-tendered this summer.

Wow. Looking at Capgeek, we have a lot of players down in the minor coming off their deals. I wonder who Fletcher will opt to keep.

IMO

Gone:
Ortmeyer
Daoust(possibly back on an Aeros contract)
Frasor

Offered, but perhaps decline:
Earl
O'Sullivan(less likely to return)

Brought back via qualifying offer:
Wellman
Palmer
Gillies
Endras(may go back to Europe if he doesn't make the Wild)
Falk
Prosser
Noreau(may sign in Europe for more $$$)

The other 3(Disalvatore, Bagnall, Penner) are the tough ones. Penner we just got so his evaluation is on now, Disalvatore is our leading scorer for the 2nd straight season, while Bagnall's a former captain who's a tough and steady defensive d-man, an ideal candidate for helping develop our prospects.

Coming in I believe Krupp's turning pro, Caron as well(could be wrong with these 2, but they'll be 20 before July 1), and Foucault who doesn't have a contract(and I still believe might not get one). Kuemper's getting signed. Possibly Granlund and Lehtonen from Europe. Medvec is also in his senior season at Vermont, but might not get signed either.

Factor in a couple college signings and it might get tricky.
