Carey Price - Thoroughbred

Great look at Price's numbers so far in his career compared to some of the best.

from the article:

In the 30 games the Canadiens have scored three or more goals for Price: 23-3-4.

I like Price and all, but if your team scores 3, or more goals, you better damn well win a majority of the games.

oh yah, 3 goals is a real offensive outburst

so in essence, your GAA (to be a good goalie by your standards) should be 2 or under.

edit: and it makes it even more impressive by the mere fact that our two most relaible defencemen in our own end have been injured the majority of the year.

Remember when Scotty Bowman said that the Habs should not trade Price that he was the real deal.....some peoples here were saying that he didn't know the team and that he was out from big responsibilities in the NHL for too long

That guy know his hockey !

It won't be this year, but I can see it in his future for sure!

Bob Gainey was right about him being a Thoroughbred....Halak will always be a great goalie, but we'll never be sure about him playing a long season plus playoffs as he's much smaller and more frail than Price.

Yes yes, relax we all know that Thomas is a god. You can go tell all your buddies that back on the Bruins board.

Haven't heard Don Cherry apologize for saying Carey couldn't cut it in Montreal yet.

He is not a favorite to win but he prolly will be nominated for the Vezina, Hart is a bit of a longshot but by definition he should be as he really is our MVP.

Good luck waiting on that...I'm still waiting for Pierre Mcguire to apologize regarding anything he says that's wrong. He loves getting praise for being right, but never apologizes for being wrong. Melnick should catch him on that more often, but they're buddies, and you know he wouldn't do that.

There are only five teams in the league averaging more than 3.00 G/G, so yes, 3 goals per game is nothing to scoff at.

Not to mention Jack Todd. And I'm not counting his "I-was-wrong-about-Price-but-really-I-was-right-the-whole-time" article from a couple of months ago, that was a joke.

People dont realise yet that PK Subban a relieved him of a TON of pressure, Subban here, Subban there, awsome here, sucks there, lack of respect this time and awsome caracter... we dont bother about all the little details with price anymore.. yes Price brought his level to new heights but Subban is now on the same spot price was for.the last 2 years... only subban isnt on the ice for.60 minutes

If I recall, most of the top offensive teams have an average GPG of over 3.5... Just scoring 3 goals doesn't mean squat, otherwise the top offensive teams would run the table every year.

Candidate for the Vezina, sure, but Thomas has it right now.

Hart, it would take at least a division win. A conference win would seal it in my eyes. However, Daniel Sedin and Steve Stamkos are pretty much the front-runners.

One thing I will tell you is that this season, Price has proved to everyone that he can carry this team. He has to potential to finish with 35+ wins, maybe even finish with 40. He has won this team games single-handedly and other nights he has done his share to get by.

I must admit that the whole Carey Price story has changed the way I view myself as a
hockey fan and sometimes analysis. Now I never wanted the team to trade Price however I was one of those who was pisssed when Halak was traded. I never thought Price would rebound as well as he has this season, and has given everyone insight into why Gainey drafted this player as well as chose him to stay as a starter when trading a goalie who did the unthinkable last season in the playoffs. I must mention that, that single performance by Halak last playoff has not been surpassed by Price as of yet, maybe this is the year?
but until he has playoff success he should not be compared to Dryden or Roy.

"In the 30 games the Canadiens have scored three or more goals for Price: 23-3-4.

In the 30 games Price has allowed two goals or less: 26-2-2. "

WoW!

I think Thomas has both Vezina and Hart right now. Who was the last goalie to finish a season with under 2.00 GAA having started more than 50 games? Other than Hasek in 98-99, I can't think of anyone else. Not saying Thomas will do it, but if he does it will be quite remarkable and something that hasn't been done in a while.

Playing his 190th game yesterday, Carey Price is the youngest Habs goalie EVER to reach that mark.
