What happened to your Preds? They were cruising along and then suddenly crashed... hard. Any insights?

not to mention hes kind of known to go to nashvilles version of the roxy "tootsies"

Well, I could go on and on for hours. There are MANY reasons. I'll just list a few of them:
  • losing Boullion in the middle of January as our #4 dman and having no one to replace him (Sulzer tried) until Blum came along last week
  • losing O'Reilly for the year to a broken leg in January
  • Sullivan got hurt in late December and hasn't been the same since (came back for the month of February and was our worst forward)
  • JP Dumont hasn't been the same since the Burrows hit. He has lost a step and is slow in making decisions on whether to pass/shoot.
  • Lost Goc for the year in our last game against you guys in the middle of February.
  • Kostitsyn isn't shooting AT ALL. He only has 14 shots on goal in the last 13 games (and 4SOG in the last 6). Which makes his line of Erat (playmaker) and Fisher (net crasher) useless.
  • spending 3.5M on Lombardi (on a self-imposed cap strapped team) and only having him for 1 and a half games this year. Because of this addition, we weren't able to take on anymore salary at the trade deadline.

Basically, we replaced Lombardi, O'Reilly, Sullivan, Goc, and JP Dumont with Halischuk, Geoffrion, Spaling, Ward, and Smithson/Tootoo. These missing players make up our lop line at the beginning of the year plus our 2nd and 3rd line centers. We just don't have the $$ nor the prospects (yet) to replace our injured players.

Just to be safe, let's get the players' moms to sew those little stop signs on the back of their sweaters.

Hopefully Lapierre will start to play his game and counter-act that.

Good point. I like how the Canucks finally have an answer for guys like Tootoo. The Lapierre-Tootoo matchup should be interesting.

Interesting story: Weber kept it hush-hush about a fracture in his ankle so that he could play for Team Canada. Even went to the All Star game.

Where did you hear this? That is interesting indeed. It's even more interesting that he went to the All-Star Game considering there was no All-Star Game last year.

Haha, oh my. Braincramp on my part.

Not sure what Trotz meant by the following:
Quote:
"I knew Shea was in the mix and they [Team Canada] thought highly of him," said Trotz. "But he struggled. He had trouble turning one way and he was in a tremendous amount of pain. We thought about him not going to the All-Star Game, but he wanted him to keep it [injury] quiet. I thought it was important because I believe in the person that much and obviously it was a good decision by Team Canada. He's going to be a part of the Team Canada program for a long time and I think he's one of the emerging defencemen in this league."

Don't think Team Canada will be impressed by this.

He helped Team Canada win the gold medal. I would hope they'd get over it.

Wasn't Getzlaf's ankle messed up too during the Olympics? his team probably didn't like him there making it worse.

If you can share a brain cramp with one of the longest tenured coach's in the NHL, you're in good company.

I have a feeling Trotz knows that there was no All-Star Game last year too, and from that, I sense that Kuzma completely made that quote up. Maybe he meant to write "Olympic Games" as opposed to "All-Star Game". It would be great to actually see or hear Trotz make that booboo, which I have to assume he didn't say.

Vancouver sports "journalism" at it's finest.

Well... The quote is partly true. They took it from an article from Puck Daddy (yahoosports). I'd suggest reading it. It's a good read.

Mike Babcock was coaching not only the Detroit Red Wings, but Team Canada at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games. Weber was secretly playing on a broken foot while Babcock and Steve Yzerman, then a Wings vice-president and Team Canada’s executive director, were considering candidates for their Olympic roster.

I have such a hate-on for Tony Gallagher. I don't think there is a single thing that he says that I agree with.

Lol, I guess I'm one of the few that actually enjoys tight, hard-working, structured hockey. Nashville is well coached, physical and aggressive on the puck and I actually enjoy watching that kind of hockey. Much more than loosey-goosey no back-check, lots of goals but no system play worth noting kind of hockey. Grantd Nash's depleted forward core limits what they can do offensively, but I'm still expecting an entertaining game, IF we match the work ethic the visitors will bring.

Win or lose, only thing I care about is no injuries and a strong effort tonight.
