Lol, I guess I'm one of the few that actually enjoys tight, hard-working, structured hockey. Nashville is well coached, physical and aggressive on the puck and I actually enjoy watching that kind of hockey. Much more than loosey-goosey no back-check, lots of goals but no system play worth noting kind of hockey. Grantd Nash's depleted forward core limits what they can do offensively, but I'm still expecting an entertaining game, IF we match the work ethic the visitors will bring.
Win or lose, only thing I care about is no injuries and a strong effort tonight.
Strong defensive play is fine. Watching some guy hide in a bunker for 60 minutes is not.
You're right, that was a pretty good read. And I don't deny the fact that Weber was playing injured before the Olympics. The guy is a warrior and one hell of a hockey player.
But like I said, I have a funny feeling that Barry Trotz was well aware that there was no All-Star Game last year. Therefore it's fair to assume that Ben Kuzma (the writer of the article that quoted Trotz saying that the Preds were going to hold Weber out of last years All-Star Game) lied about Trotz's quote without doing any research.
I know this isn't the thread to whine about our local media here in Vancouver. But you'd think that a hockey crazed market like we are here would find knowledgeable hockey fans to do their writing. They hire journalists to learn hockey, not hockey people to learn how to write. It's ass-backwards in my opinion.
Nashville is on the outside looking in, and they're going to play a frustrating, tight checking game. I expect them to come out strong and I think they're going to burry one early, and then shut er' down.
I hope I'm wrong, but I'm going to call 2-0 Preds.
hopefully they put up a boatload of goals tonight and get the win, to shut down a bit of that nagging doubt about their ability to beat stifling defensive teams.
If your opponent wants to play an armour plated turtle I hope we win 1-0. You can't expect blowouts vs good tight negative defensive teams. They kind of want you to play wide open. You have to be able to beat them at their own game.
