Game 4 - Bruins @ Habs

From Habs I/O:

Quote:
Benoit Pouliot would seem to be headed for the Bell Centre’s press gallery Thursday night for Game 4 – if there were room. But since there’s not, he’ll likely be watching from the players’ lounge off the dressing room.

Pouliot is odd man out at practice in Brossard this morning, Jeff Halpern apparently bound for a return to action, practising as a winger on a line with Lars Eller and Travis Moen.

Tom Pyatt is skating with David Desharnais and Ryan White, the Canadiens’ top two lines untouched.

Habs will win this game because JM will outcoach Julien.

I'd probably have sat desharnais over pouliot, despite how bad pouliot has been. Desharnais has been almost if not just as bad as pouliot, and bringing in a center like halpern moves who to the wing?

It's the logical move, hopefully he can help on key faceoffs.

Thing is Desharnais can play some pk, Pouliot is just useless and won't even get a shift

Scott Gomez is afraid of jail and working.

"I've had phone calls straight out of Boiler Room, with some random guy from Long Island calling and saying, 'Scott, don't play games, you have to give me this money now, this is a great opportunity.' And I didn't know who it was or how he got my number. That's why I leave all financial decisions to my money guy or my dad, who is an intimidating presence. My money guy sends me examples of how athletes go broke, and it's effective. Since I was a kid, there have been two things I've been afraid of: going to jail, and working. It's all about freedom. And I need my money for that."

Nice! I would have Halpern take the draws and then move to wing, Eller's creativity is much better used at centre, but we really need Halpern to win us more draws.

Darche-Gomez-Gionta
Cammalleri-Plekanec-Kostitsyn
Eller/Halpern-Eller/Halpern-Moen
Pyatt-Desharnais-White

Good to see Pouliot sat. He's been terrible and far worse than anyone else on the team. He's brought nothing for weeks.

My wish..

DD-Eller-White for scoring
Pyatt-Halpern-Moen as pure shut down line.

Yeah, there's that. But we also gain back halpern who can play PK as well, while downgrading our size if pouliot sits. I don't really care which one sits, i just don't think it's as easy a call as many of you are making it out to be.

One thing that bothers me about Pouliot is his ability to take the worst penalties, Andrei K is a close second. Pouliot has the speed and talent to be somebody but for whatever reason his play dropped off towards the end of the season. It might be the line combos he has been on, or it might be the type of player he will always be. Because of this he will only ever be a third line guy, could be more but lacks the extra push to be better.
