Henrik Lundqvist

Hank turned 29 today! So happy birthday to him.

The point being that he has already been in the NHL for 4-5 years and barely has had any sniff of being successful in the playoffs (due to the teams he's been around).

He is still in the prime of his career and is not getting any younger.

This isn't one of those trade him now threads, my point is simply that our window for success is a lot smaller than I thought it was originally. I am counting at least 6 more years of a productive Hank (and I'll take whatever I can from him after 35), but we all figure it would be another 2-3 years before we develop all of our kids. That gives us a 2-3 year window to really have a good team (which is very small).

Anyways, I just wanted to wish the King a Happy Birthday!

Thanks for all the good you have done for us these last few years and hoping for many more!

Trade Lundqvist for Nicklas Backstrom and a 1st. Flip the 1st and Matt Gilroy for Rick Nash. Boom.

He isn't getting any younger. Next few years are critical...

Brodeur won his first cup in 95 when he was 23. He went to his first ECF in 94 when he was 22-23.

I would bet that Hank could have been a goaltender for this team probably 3 years before he actually came over. Looking at his SEL numbers and our goaltending by committee in 03-04.

On the bright side, Hank isn't a goalie that relies on his athleticism and speed so maybe he has more years left in him than were giving him credit for. I could really see his style of positioning and patience giving him a chance to play more seasons at a high level. Of course I dont want to test the theory, but its a valid point I think.

I bet if Hank had been a goaltender for a team who could play defense and could score, he'd be a multiple cup winner already.

That said, glad he's ours.

Happy Birthday, Henrik!!

Our present to you is this golden opportunity, wrapped in bows and streamers, to catch on fire and carrry your team to the playoffs.

No, really, it was nothing ;-)

Let's go Henrik!! Celebrate.

I saw this thread and saw the OP and wondered if the OP started counting down after 30. Then I saw the date. Happy birthday!
