If there is a chance who do we get him or Richards. What would it take and do you think tampa can match ?

Tampa would match any offer sheet. They will have him locked up and if they don't, yeah you take the chance and offer him a huge sheet.

The more realistic RFA sheet this summer is Parise. I think he actually has a minimal chance of getting that far, unlike Stamkos.

They currently have 9 mil in space, with Gagne's 5m coming off in the summer

Also true. The last time our franchise did one was Sakic I believe, before Sather was gm.

No matter how much money anyone offered unless St Louis is going also Stamkos would be foolish to go anywhere until that little hall of famer retires . He doesn't look to be slowing down either . I always knew he was good but with Stamkos finishing now I know how really special a player MSL is . He is by far my favorite player to watch in the NHL . I've followed this team for 35 of my 42 yrs qnd we've never had a player like MSL . Believe it or not Mark Pavelich might be closest to MSL the rangers had since after Jean Ratelle left as a center . Even Mess was a mercenary really for us and when he came back hurt the club IMO as grea as he was , Leetch , Richter and the rest of the group , Zubov that was a team

One could make the argument that any big name free agent signing is a "mercenary"....but most people wouldn't agree with it. haha

So Messier s second go round was a huge success ? Let's see how many times did he play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs after leaving and then coming back ?

I don't believe that he would do it, but I would absolutely go after Parise. You don't have to put up an insane offer sheet because the Devils are already tight on cap space, and if they do happen to match, it handicaps them again next season. I just don't think tat Sather would do that to Lou, their teams may be arch rivals, but I would think they are not.

Tampa WILL MATCh,what are you kidding me,i mean they have some big contracts in Lecavalier and st.Louis, but stamkos will be a TBL.

There is no way, under any circumstance, that I see Tampa allowing Stamkos to leave via offer sheet. They will match anything and everything, and will get rid of whoever they have to on the team to match an offer sheet.

There is no way that Stamkos will leave the Lightning (at least until he is a free agent).

I agree with the person that said Parise would be the better target, it would be a lot harder for NJ to match an offer sheet for Parise.

But in the end, as someone already said, Glen does not believe in handing out offer sheets, so don't really expect anything.

It's clear our summer plan is Brad Richards or bust, there is no denying that that is what the Rangers will do come July 1st.

I'd do it to the devils. They are a rival team. Its not like we will ever make a trade with them in the future, at least nothing that would be of substantial value.

Of course then again it depends on how much respect Glen as for Lou.
