You are pushing your luck 442! If you survive this one, I vote save it up for April when we get desperate.

Caps 4-2 Erskine with another goal.

With Alex Giroux on the Oilers, this game is Bear on Bear violence. It will make me sad if anyone gets chippy with him.

That would require Giroux to be capable of chippiness in the first place...

HA, I know. I thought we were doomed for the Tampa Bay game when I botched the GDT thread pre-fix .... I guess we can take a vote after this (assuming the streak continues)

Like riding the goalie on a run until he has a meltdown, I don't think its a bad thing to give him a night off. In fact, I think its a good thing to let a guy catch his breath on an up note. Get the other G some work because our playoffs have proven one G is not always enough.

From Twitter and the DC MSM crew (Carrera and McNally):

Ovechkin says he is skating with Johansson tonight, and Boudreau will have an update on Backstrom later.

Holtby the only skater at practice, and presumably he is starting tonight.

Fehr says that he is playing tonight.

Appears Beagle is still injured so I suppose Hendricks will play center.

My guess...

Ovie - Mojo - Knuble
Laich - Arnott - Semin
Sturm - Hendricks - Fehr
Chimera - Gordon - Bradley

They won't, but, I'd almost prefer they try

Sturm-Arnott-Semin
Chimera-Laich-Fehr
Hendricks-Gordon-Bradley

Bruce'll be looking for that Laich-Arnott-Semin line chemistry though. He'll be banking on them coming back and not sucking like they did against Florida.

Put all the new guys together!

Ovechkin-Johansson-Semin
Sturm-Arnott-Wideman
Chimera-Hendricks-Fehr
Bradley-Gordon-Knuble

Stick Laich on D.

The media says Boudreau is calling the Backstrom cast an attempt to immobilize the thumb... isn't making it sound like this is going to shelve him for weeks or anything. He will skate tomorrow.

Per Boudreau, Neuvirth is going to back up Holtby tonight.

kcarrera Katie Carrera | BB on Backstrom's hand/thumb: "It’s only in a cast to protect himself and keep it completely quiet. It can be taken off at any time. "

Katie just confirmed the hard cast on twitter but said it can come off at any time and is just precautionary and that they expect it to be 1-2 games.

Vogel has 21 centering the 3rd line.

So maybe...

Ovie - Mojo - Knuble
Sturm - Arnott - Semin
Chimera - Laich - Fehr
Hendricks - Gordon - Bradley

that sounds like the standard disinformation. yea, the cast is about immobilizing the damaged bone. thats a fact. yes, it can be removed at anytime. thats also a basic fact of life.

what they are avoiding is that he didnt need the cast before the florida game and did not need to miss a game. clearly healing the fracture has taken a step backwards from no face offs, to no soup.

the doctor obviously thinks that immobilizing the thumb and not playing is necessary now.
when somebody didnt think so before.

yea...that makes more sense. move a 4 winger to center and the wing slot open for fehr is a 4 slot. move laich to center and a top 9 wing slot opens which is a better fit.

Power of the people; hockeydonks.com or whatever it is was right. Do we really think someone is going to tell Katie before they let Nick out in public? I dont think they tell her anything of substance. The media has their hands full trying to beat the public at large to news. Without the people, the MSM often figures out little on their own.

It can be removed any day, ha yeah a guy with a sawzall.
