Sens Draft Review up

Any comments or questions...post them in this thread I guess. A re-ranking and some profile sprucing-up is next up. The re-ranking will be within the next week I hope too. Many of the profiles are up and done by others, and if you want a cool interview with Matt McIlvane, check out his profile, there is a link to it within.

Well done. It's good to finally hear something about our late round picks.

Small nitpick here. John Wikner is not the only Scandinavian player chosen by the Sens in the draft. Denmark is considered a Scandinavian country so Peter Regin would also be considered a Scandinavian player as well.

excactly...Denmark, Norway and Sweden are the scandinavian countries, and maybe also Finland...

Also, Regin is not "as close to a good prospect Denmark has ever produced". Frans Nielsen is

And sadly, he won't be playing in the OHL next season.

P.S. Scandinavia is Denmark, Sweden and Norway. No more, no less.

LOL. Thanks. I went up to the cottage for the weekend and I had a buddy of mine read the article over, and he pointed it out too. I did know Denmark was a Scandanavian country, but I will say that when I think of Scandanavian hockey players, it's easy to understand how I'd forget about our Danish prospect. I'll get that edited, and maybe take a European geography class at university next year. Thanks for keeping me honest though.

The Draft Ranked By Teams

theScore.ca has ranked all the teams draft day results (available on their website, follow the NHL tab).

Ottawa comes in at a B+ (mostly because of the value they received for Lalime & Bonk...debate in other threads here). That ranks them 7th...the only teams that beat them were the the Caps, Pens, Hawks, Preds, Blues and Kings..all teams that drafted much higher than the Sens.

For a team that drafted 23rd overall to come in 7th is pretty amazing.

Where would this team be without its scouting department?

Jeff Glass

One quick note....Jeff Glass was the starting goaltender for the ICE last year. In 2002-2003 he split time with Brian Bridges but essentially took over the starting role half way through the season and into the playoffs. At the beginning of the 2003-2004 season Bridges was traded to Seattle to give Glass the full time starting job.

The ICE were indeed a mediocre team last year with a horrible defense but Glass kept them in many games they shouldn't have even been in. That being said he does need some work but he's a big kid with a great attitude.

Good pick for the Sens in my books.
