Tyler Bozak Extension ?

What would you offer Tyler Bozak for his extension ?

He is currently making 2.85m with a bonus capable of hitting 3.725m

He is still an RFA.

I'm still thinking he's only deserving of a 1.75m, 2m or less is fine with me, and anything over 2.5m and I'd be shocked.

I was actually hoping that he'd be apart of a trade with one of the three that were moved before the deadline for a true 1st line center playmaker that the Leafs need for Kessel.

Kaberle, Bozak and Philly's 1st, for a Richards type trade. (hate throwing around Brad's name but it's just an example, though I hated losing Tomas)

So what would you offer Bozak, and what do you think Burke will offer and what do you think Bozak's agent thinks he deserves?

I've actually hated Bozak all season, he's hasn't even had a handful of good games. Other then he's strong on faceoffs, he's been horrible in his own zone, never finishes (which not sure why but Kessel was trying to pass too much when he wasn't playing well), isin't passing well all season, not that strong on the boards. Oh and somehow people think he's been the next coming of Jere Lehtinen or Mike Richards on the PK, I don't think so. (still near the bottom of the league in that category) I guess cause he's not atrocious as he was earlier in the season on the PK, it's time to reward him for not being terrible ?

But to go with all that, I actually loved his game last season, he was a terrific playmaker to go with Kessel's wrist shot, I almost thought he was the ying for his yang, but it hasn't been even remotely similar to that this season. Somehow they did just click for those 37 games last year, and it then vanished this season.

Bozak 09-10 - 37GP 8g 19a 27pts P/M -5
Bozak 10-11 - 65GP 10g 14a 24pts P/M -23

Wilson likes to stand behind guys he like I guess, he should have let Tyler sit in the press box at least a game or two this season.

He is currently making 875K with 2.85 mil on top of that in potential bonuses for a total cap hit of 3.725mil.

His numbers and potential warrant a re-up of 1-2 years at a low amount as he's still settling into what his NHL role will be. He has not got a lot of leverage and I expect him to sign a contract similar to the extension Gustavsson last year (2 years, 1.35mil per).

i'm thinking $1.5mil MAX. maybe for a year or two and go from there.

the thing with Bozak is, he's not just an offensive player. i can live with his lack of production because he's such a smart player and good in other areas...but i certainly hope his offensive production picks up again next season.

i like him a whole lot...but i like him a lot more when he's producing.

I see Bozak signing for something similar to Andrew Cogliano. Both had time as the #1 center and better suited for a 3rd line role, both are good PK players.

COGS signed for 1.0 million and I would be happy if Bozak did get 1.0 mil per for 3 years but would be happy even if they went 1.5 per year for 3 years.

1/1.25 m per, 2 year term. What he brings is not even on a dime a dozen level.

Little to no O , nothing special on the fore-check , no physical game.

Frankly i'm not sure why he is still on the #1/2 lines.

I see a 1 year at 1 mil or a 2 year at 1.25 per. This sophmore slump is going to kill him in contract negotiations so I think Burkie gets him signed CHEAP

I'd say a 1 year 1M or a 2 year 1.2M deal would do it.

Make him redeem himself. He's capable of much more offensively, in my opinion.

I like how everyone hates him now and he brings nothing. Need I remind you what people said about Grabo just last summer?

Gotta keep him around for sure, and the fact that he is going to make south of 2mil is great. He seems to be extremely well liked by his team mates and has all the potential in the world to break out next year in a more comfortable role. Him and Army are money the PK together, and it's not unreasonable to think that chemistry will transfer into 5on5 play. Has the makings to be a very decent third line center.

I agree with this. Give him MacArthur money, maybe we'll see him break out in the same way next season

Bozak isn't going to have much case for anything other than a drastically lowered caphit next season. I still think he can be a useful piece on the 3rd line, but he is not a 19-20 minute player.

I totally agree, he's on the #2 line cause he's the best #2C we have. If Burke gets an offseason upgrade at C Bozak will make a good #3C.

What would be the purpose of a two way contract? To spit in his face? He would have to clear waivers to be re-assigned.

1.1 or 1.5M over 2 years.

He hasn't been great but it's his sophomore slump, kind of sucks for him to be in a contract year + a slump at the same time but that's how things roll.

I'd give him some leeway considering the slump and just hope if we put him in a 3C role he can produce next season.

1.35 for 2 years

my question is who do you guys want on our fourth line...the only Lock is Brown.....

Lupul-Laich-Kessel
Kulemin-Grabo-Mac
Army-Bozak-Kadri
Brunnstrum/rosehill/orr/Mueller - Brent/Boyce/Hanson/Zigomanis/ - Brown

Clearly a failed troll attempt by someone that knows very little about hockey.

1-1.3 is fair and what I expect him to get. He'll fit in nicely with Armstrong on our 3rd line for the next few years.

I was going to suggest 1.3 x 2 (a contract similar to the Monster last summer)

So i'd suggest in the 1 - 1.4 per season range

1.25-ish seems fine, couple years.

Two ways have nothing to do with waivers. Someone had to say it. Damn you EA Sports for making the entire gaming genre of fans believe that's how it works lol..

The joy of EA sports hockey eh...lol...messes with peoples minds/hockey sense

That said - about your comment to the poster on Laich - i think he's a realistic target this summer

However, if Colborne is ready I can see him moving back to the LW (Laich that is)
