Trevor Lewis

Jets Garage reminded me of this beauty of a hipcheck last night:

He had a few other solid plays out there last night as well.

I had him ready a year ago but he is absolutely ready now. He gets a little better all the time too. He is a great success story

Every game that Lewis plays with solid line mates (that don't include Westgarth) he gets better. I think he's actually underappreciated around here. He could be amazing as the 3rd line stopper line center. The kid has to be one of our best PK forwards. His skating is solid and last night made a few power forward moves toward the next. Awesome to see him develop into a solid NHLer.

He doesn't hurt us; He doesn't really help us all that much. I'm okay with him being in the line up for as long as that statement holds true.

I'm a fan. If his hands ever catch up to his feet he could be a decent contributor. If not, we've got a Chimera type, which ain't too bad.

... He's Craig Johnson, wearing 22 instead of 23.

Good for a third or fourth liner, good on the PK. Anything more and you're kidding yourself.

I think that's exactly what most of us are expecting of him, which is entirely reasonable for a mid-1st round pick and just about what most were projecting him to become. I think he can be very much like Todd Marchant was early in his career, a fast 3rd line PK specialist who can chip in here and there with some offense.

He doesn't have a good handle on the puck quite yet but I think as he matures he'll get better and stronger in that area. Every team has a player like that who plays a pivotal checking role. It is unlike fourth line players in the past that were simply ineffective plugs.

It's his first season up in the bigs, we should expect him to improve with time.

Nothing wrong with that. As long as he doesn't end a top contributor to the Kings career, all is good.
I can see him and Clifford becoming a strong forechecking duo on the 3rd line. You can already see it.

He doesn't hurt the team, does a solid job and his speed is a great asset. He can also play all 3 forward positions.

I Was A Bit Worried....

I was just worried our coach and management would give up on him and send him packing... thank god that did not happen. I do expect him to keep improving and really surprise some of the nay sayers. I think coming out he is more skilled than Craig Johnson was, all around more talented. Now he just has to keep up that work ethic I see in him. I would love to hear he practices like Simmonds on his Oh Fence game... that would make me very happy. I have no predictions for where he will fit, just think he should keep improving making that a tough choice on the coaches.

he's stronger than Craig Johnson was. And, yes, if he had hands, he could score, too. Hopefully, he'll work hard on his puck-handling and shooting, too. He could add more than he is now.

Wheels, toughness and a nose for the net are all on his resume. If he becomes a finisher, this guy will be dangerous. Even if not, he's already pretty valuable and showing as much linear progress as any player on the team. He'll be back next year, I'd like to see him with Loktionov and the hungriest young winger in camp barring some solid FA acquisition, in which case a Clifford-Loktionov-Lewis line would be a helluva fourth line.

Lewis has definitely earned a contract extension, he'll continue to grow.
