Really! That's interesting as well. Just about everywhere I've had Peiking Duck (Vancouver and San Francisco) it has been with the lettuce wrap. I know my wife had it in Beijing and it wasn't served with the lettuce wrap (but in Beijing they also leave more of the duck meat on the skin), so I figured the lettuce wrap was a cantonese thing.

My wife's family is from Singapore, but came to Canada and San Francisco via Hong Kong, so it is often hard to determine the origins of things the family does.

Personally, roast duck, as a chinese person who grew up in west side vancouver, i gotta say, the place at President's Place, you know the T&T by the radisson, there's a BBQ place right by T&T which is amazing.

Rome jokes aside, the Canucks love back-to-backs: 7-1-2.

Personally, I hate eating duck. It has a mild livery taste that throws it off for me.

That makes sense. I haven't made it to Hong Kong yet but I'll have to see if they make Beijing Duck the same way there when I go there.

I remember after Canada won the gold medal in hockey and everywhere downtown was jammed we just cabbed it up to Sun Sui Wah and celebrated with duck and lobster. That was a good day.

Holy shnikes you guys are really going at it with the peking duck.

Best I've ever had is in Bejing, there's a little village like area that apparently has where peking duck originated from. That is the best duck i've ever had. Couldn't tell you what the place is called. All i remember is it was 3 floors and there was pictures of Clinton, Che, and Suddam Hussien enjoying some duck. haha crazy china and their terrorist tourist.

Do you mean clothing, or liver-like taste? I like liver, but duck does admittedly have a very slight gamy flavour, which is masked with marinades or served with condiments like orange sauces in Western culture or Hoisin in Asian cooking. However, over time I've become accustomed to its rich flavour and probably artery clogging properties of duck fat, so I tend to consume it in moderation.

Xiao Wang's Home Restaurant? That's where I had my duck in Beijing. This place was on Lonely Planets top five things to do in Beijing, next to the Great Wall, Forbidden City, etc. It didn't disappoint.

Now everyone is confident vs Anaheim because of there weak D. But they still have a heck of a forward group that can expose our bottom pairing, Iama say its 5-4 in ot or SO hopefully kesler racks em up with the twins.
They have an awesome first line and Selanne.

For cheap (but fairly good) dim sum, try Kings on Main Street. Good prices, good food, horrid ambiance.
Really? Because the Robson and New West locations are still open as I write this. Just bought potstickers there yesterday.

And I've had both On Lok and Dinesty. I still prefer Hon's. But that's just my preference, I guess.

Anyway, GO CANUCKS!

I know for sure the Richmond one is gone - I assumed when they said it was due to tax evasion it meant the whole chain went.

Anyways - back to hockey. Hope our PP comes to life today.

Yah... it's great. Just didn't feel like trying to find parking downtown... On Lok is a great 2nd choice IMHO.

Yeah, I don't even remember Hon's having a Richmond location. Different place/owners/spelling...? The New West one is where I go, and it's been an institution for years. I just called to make sure they're open after I saw LeftCoast's post.

I've been to Sui Sun Wah once. ONCE. I dunno, I must've gotten a bad batch of something because I got the whole flushed-face MSG-overdose mini-heart-attack thing after I ate there. And TNT rocks, despite the suspicious looks I get when I go there.

I don't have anything to contribute to the duck discussion.

Ducks games are always high scoring so I hope the team can pad their stats and break out of their slumps today. The Sedins looked so pumped and relieved to score that go ahead goal yesterday and I'm thinking it may be the jolt they needed to get hot. Look for each member of the top line to put up a couple points tonight.

The PP also needs to get going and this game might just provide the chance to do it. Anaheim's PK is 23rd in the league, although they're 12th at home. Still, I'm thinking the PP breaks out for 2 goals.

Canucks win 5-3

Vancouver goals:

Burrows
H. Sedin
Kesler (PP)
Ehrhoff (PP)
Malhotra (EN)

Anaheim goals:

Perry (2)
Selanne (PP) <---- We know that's coming.

Thanks Slyintine.

And apologies for my fellow Canucks fans who appeared to have ignored you. They're very intent on discussing where the best Chinese restaurants are and where you can get the best barbecued duck and duck soup.

And for great non-Chinese, head to Granville Island and enjoy: http://www.afghanhorsemen.com/

Absolutely great food and atmosphere. Can't remember what it's called, but one of the specialty drinks comes in something akin to an umbrella stand. Awesome!

What's hockey?
