My pick 84.

Playoffs? No.

Jersey and Carolina take the last two spots.

You would be surprised?

They're 7 wins away from us (in 7th). With 2 games in hand.

8-1-1 in their last ten. Even better in their last 15~ or whatever.

We are 3-6-1 in our last ten. If both teams continue pace (or alter slightly - realistically), we could go roughly 7-13-2 in the final 22 games for 16 points and a total of 82 points for the season.

Devils could finish 17-5-2 for 36 points and finish with 88. Very possible.

If we continue to play sub-par and lose big games (tonight, Carolina, Montreal, Boston, etc), AKA 4-point games, we could definitely miss the playoffs.

Whoever joked about that last regular-season game being the tipping point for 8th seed between us and the Devils wasn't too far-fetched. I could definitely see that happening, and knowing the Rangers, you could guess what the result would be.

I think people are overreacting a little bit about us not making the playoffs.

I agree completely and it's sickening to me, because people who disagree complain about you not being a real fan who's just trying to find the silver lining or some ********.

We just played one of the more draining physical and mental games against the kings last night and then we have to get up and go into NJ who is on fire at the moment and beat them? After last nights game I knew this one would be hard on us cause:

1) Fatigue
2) Hedberg (He always seems to get the best of us)
3) Line combos going into the game
4) Gilroy and DZ still being a pair

With 22 games left at 66 points, we should no less have 22 points (1pt per game) to get to 88. I say we'll end up with 92 points as one of the above posters said and we'll be either 7th, 8th, or 9th.

We will come up just short: 88 points, about 3-4 shy of 8th place.

When does trout season open?

What's worse is that now they're predicting NJ to finish 7th.

I guess all the abuse from Devils fans over the years has got them scared.

If they put together the run required to make the playoffs they will be beat up and worn out by the time they start... Don't see it happening anyway.

86 points sneak in to playoffs.

i still dont thik the devils will make the playoffs, they are def in the hunt but they have to cool off. no team can play like that for 2 months. especially a team that was dead last a few weeks ago.

I hate to say it but Jacques has them playing their system to a T . Ilya is starting to play like the player that everyone wanted and the Debs overpaid for and we continue to miss open nets . Good news is Hank was back to having a real economy of movement and squeezing the puck and controlling rebounds . Our lack of skill and the hard hitting and playing we did all along is biting us in the ass. Carolina and the Devils 7-8 seed . Can't see us getting more than 84-86 points with no guys who can finish plays

Not really, the team doesent look good at all and hasent since the All-star break or imo since we lost Fro, Feds and replaced them with weak links like Wolski and Prospal, not to mention Christ looks terrible since his return, and Zucc is still questionable if he can really play in this league. Than we have Gilroy who shouldint step foot in the ice, as he brings nothing to the table.

Its sucks because this team looked very good up until Dec or Jan, at which point we went in the wrong direction and started to play a different style of hockey with different players.

So you'd rather have Frolov and Feds than Wolski and Prospal?

I really hope that we do make the playoffs, I think we'll end with about 90 points. We already have almost the same amount of wins as we did last season.

Surely you understand how direly we need Fro's wraparounds and Roszi's 2nd or 3rd pairing contributions? Feds was nice to have he was good but I haven't seen anything less or more from wolski and prospal that we should be lamenting them as "poor replacements".

We lost Fro and replaced him with a weak link in Wolski?

Jesus christ. I'm just as disappointed in how the teams been playing as you guys but I don't let it destroy any sense of reality that I have. I'm sorry if that's harsh, but right around now this board is getting really ridiculous. Was it like this last year, too?

Updating my view:

End of season 86 points.

Playoffs? NO.

Comes down to last game of the season.

Jersey keeps them out.
