2011 QMJHL Offical Playoffs Thread

With the Sea Dogs 8-0 victory over the Screaming Eagles last night, they officially clinched the Jean Rougeau Trophy as #1 team in the regular season. Home ice for the entire playoffs is a nice prize.

This is the Sea Dogs second straight Rougeau Trophy, and last year they went on to lose in the league final to Moncton in 6 games.

Playoff teams all but set now, with only the #16 spot left to be clinched. Cape Breton getting this spot is imminent.

The team you don't want to face in the playoffs?

I was wondering if is there any team you don't want to see your team face in the playoffs? I mean, except Saint-John, of course...

Is it Chicoutimi because of their goaltender?
Shawinigan because of their big physical presence history in the playoffs?
Gatineau because of 3-time President Cup winner Benoît Groulx?
Victoriaville because of their full-speed young team?
Moncton because they won the Cup last year?
Even Rimouski because they have a not-so-bad team on paper?

I'm curious.

Personally, the team I don't want to meet is Shawinigan. They have upset a few teams this season and I'm pretty sure this team is ready to hit everything alive! I wouldn't want to face them, especially in the first round.

I don't want to meet Gatineau, because they wouldn't be ranked there with labrie all year long.

I don't want Drummond too...

Bathurst please.

Should be a very exciting playoffs. The obvious is Saint John, but i can't wait to see what teams like Quebec, Montreal, and maybe even what the PEI Rocket can do. I would like to know how people are going to follow the playoffs that dont live in any of those cities. (Like Me). Anybody going to use the Telus site that streams games?

The new format is very interesting imo! We'll have some great series in the first round and I think Victo could cause the upset of this first round.

On my side, I'll listen the games at the radio when my team will be on the road. I don't want to pay 7 bucks for a game...

By the way, if PEI lose tonight (against Saint-john) and Moncton win (against Halifax), Moncton will be insure to finish in front of PEI.

I think that the Rocket will reach pretty quick their Waterloo, being in the first round, as they probably face the Titan.

And Moncton is trailing by 2 against Halifax in the second!

The Piques' playoff series start on friday and saturday (25th and 26th) in Gatineau.
Most series should start on thursday or friday.

Some of the series confirmed so far:

Saint-John vs Cape Breton
Montreal vs Halifax
Québec vs Val d'Or

The way PEI has been playing lately, I got a hunch they take it to 7 and pull it off.

As much as I love the Cats (Wildcats) the goaltending that they have been getting the last couple of weeks has been horrid. Lewiston is probably our best chance for an upset but not likely.

If the Cats play more than 4 games in the playoffs it'll be a bonus
