Game Day # 62 Norfolk @ Binghamton

Game Day No. 62

Via Joy.

3/6/2011 12:30 PM EST

Matchup: Norfolk Admirals at Binghamton Senators, 5:05 p.m., Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Affiliations: Norfolk is the American Hockey League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Binghamton has been affiliated with the Ottawa Senators since 2002.

Season series: B-Sens are 1-1-1-1.

Standings: Through 61 games, the B-Sens are 32-22-3-4 (71 points), sitting fifth in the East Division and seventh in the Eastern Conference. Through 62 games, the Admirals are 31-18-8-5 (75 points), sitting fourth in the division and sixth in the conference.

Ranks: B-Sens -- 6th of 30 teams in scoring (3.28 goals per game), 15th in goals against (2.79 per game), 1st in power play (64-of-272), 17th in penalty kill (200-of-242). Admirals -- 4th in scoring (3.28 goals per game), 8th in goals against (2.69 per game), 18th in power play (47-of-271), 7th in penalty kill (220-of-260).

Last games: The B-Sens are coming off a 3-2 loss to the Albany Devils at home on Tuesday. The Admirals are coming off a 3-2 loss to the Hershey Bears in Hershey last night.

Notable: This is the first of three games in six days between these teams. … The B-Sens are beginning a stretch of five games in seven days, and the Admirals are closing out a three-in-three road weekend and four-in-five week. … These teams were tied for fourth place in the East Division before Norfolk took back sole possession of that spot with a 6-1 win over the Hershey Bears on Wednesday. … The B-Sens have earned at least a point in three straight games against the Admirals. . … The B-Sens' only win in the season series came in the teams' last meeting, a 3-2 game in Norfolk on Feb. 5. … Admirals forward Blair Jones, who has three goals and two assists against the B-Sens this season, was recalled by Tampa Bay Thursday and has not been returned. … Both teams are among the seven in the league that have reached or surpassed the 200-goal plateau.

Promotions: B-Sens Calder Cup playoff ticket and parking packages go on sale today at 4 p.m. for season ticket holders and fans who put $100 or more down toward 2011-12 season tickets. Packages include tickets for all four playoff rounds. Side packages are $280, and end packages are $264. Credit for any unplayed games will be applied to the season ticket holder's account. The deadline for season ticket holders to reserve their seats is April 2. The playoff parking passes will cost $52.00 and must be paid in full at time of purchase. The parking passes will be valid for parking at the Broome County Office garage during all 2011 Calder Cup home playoff games. … Mascots from around Binghamton and the AHL will be on hand today as the B-Sens host Mascot Mania.

Watch: AHL Live.

Listen: You can listen to the B-Sens' broadcast on 1430 The Team or 680 WINR.

Twitter: I will be live tweeting the game as @PSBJoyOnTheSens. You can also get in-game updates from the B-Sens (@BSens_Hockey) and Admirals (@NorfolkAdmirals).

Up next: The B-Sens ship out for five straight divisional road games, starting with a Tuesday tilt against the Charlotte Checkers.

Notes: Per Allen Panzeri, the Senators have committed to allowing all of the forwards they made eligible -- Greening, Bobby Butler, Erik Condra, Ryan Potulny and Zack Smith -- to be on the B-Sens' Clear Day roster. Only decision left now is which forwards will be left off. ... Today is the last day I can blog, tweet or access my work e-mail until Monday, March 14, so please send any questions you have my way before midnight tonight if you can.

It is crunch time down the stretch............

Lines today were:

Bradley Snetsiinger-Corey Locke-Ryan Keller
Kaspars Daugavins-Jim O'Brien-Roman Wick
David Dziurzynski-Mike Hoffman-Andrew Sweetland
Corey Cowick-Cody Bass-Jason Bailey

With Colin Greening coming back for tomorrow's game, we can obviously expect the top line to change.

Whether Bass plays for the first time since sustaining a deep bone bruise on his leg on Feb. 12 will be a game-time, or at least game-day decision. Who falls out of the lineup if he's back in will also be decided tomorrow.

Barry Brust will be starting today against the Norfolk Admirals, Mike Brodeur or Robin Lehner will back up.

Sweetland seems to be producing quite nicely considering he's spent the season in the ECHL. Nice to see Bingo continuing to roll so far, here's to a solid 3rd!

Huge win for Bingo. If they keep playing like this, they could improve their playoff spot.
