diebytheblade had a link to hockeywilderness' review of the game. Some relevant parts of it:

Quote:
The Sabres collapse when the Wild had numbers better than just about anyone else I've seen this season. Every time the Wild came in with numbers, the Sabres defensemen know when to take the shooter and when to break off to cover the passing lanes, and the Wild are stymied. It's fabulous.

On the Sabres: This team should not be in the position they are. Look at this roster and tell me what they're missing. I just don't get it. Is Lindy Ruff losing it? Are they trying to play a system for which they lack the personnel? Seriously, it makes no sense to me. They look technically strong, they have an elite goaltender, good offensive talent, they could use another puck-moving defenseman, but even then they shouldn't be outside the playoffs looking in. I mean, it's the East, it's not like the competition is that much better than they are. Anyway, it must be frustrating to be a Sabres fan, because these guys should be fun to watch, but they aren't getting the wins.
Its not surprising, I guess everyone thinks other teams are much stronger than the team's own fans do. Unless of course you're bitter rivals, in which you case you think other teams are much weaker than that team's fans do.

A couple random thoughts on the road trip --

- Getting a win on Versus. Recent years, it seems (and this is purely anecdotal, if someone can pull the numbers while I'm driving home, awesome) that they have lost way more often than they've won on Vs. in the last few seasons.
- Getting not one, but two wins at odd start times. This team has often stunk in the afternoon.

idk about that 10% stat. Not that it isnt accurate, but what does it prove?

10% is within the first 20 seconds of an offensive zone faceoff?

Ok, well how many offensive zone faceoffs does a team have in one game, X 20 seconds = how many minutes in a game? I have no idea how mnay offensive zone faceoffs one team has in a game. Call it 20. X 20 seconds = 400 seconds which is almost 7 minutes of ice time.

I hope i just confused someone as much as I confused myself =P

Not just after a defensive zone faceoff, but after a defensive zone faceoff won by the team in the offensive end.

Another good:

Our ability and willingness to fill shooting lanes. I, for whatever reason, paid special attention to this during the game, and our team defense was fantastic.

The way our guys cycled in the defensive zone to fill shooting lanes was the best I've seen all year.

1st PIT goal was scored directly off of a lost faceoff in the defensive zone tonight. 5 seconds.
