Correct! Just graduated and played his senior year in the Prep league. Now will move on to Harvard.

It'll be the Wolves if this article is correct:

Some pretty frustrating injuries to our top 2 skilled prospects last year too, with the high ankle sprain and that orbital bone injury to Hodgson. Whenever they got on a roll they'd get injured, so hopefully next year health will not be any more of a concern. I certainly don't think he's a bust... he's 20.

Some pretty frustrating injury-proneness throughout our organization...

Exactly. that's why I asked. Even if he went with that late birthday thing, and just joined the class of 92. He should've had one year in Harvard already

How good is Harvard at developing NHL players anyway?

They "developed" Steve Moore

Louis Leblanc is the other notable to play for Harvard off the top of my head, although he quit after a year to go play junior hockey in the Q.

McNally is one of those prospects who I expect will be forgotten about, and then come out of nowhere in about 4-5 years from now, and contribute.

McNally was ranked as #40 by CSS. A lot of teams got scared off by the route he was taking (one more year of prep, then Harvard), but he had the talent to be a 2nd round pick.

Thanks! Found the Sweatt tweet, couldn't find anything "official" regarding Shirokov though.

Yeah, the Shiro tweet seems to have disappeared from my timeline. Guess I should hold off on stating that as fact for now.

I've heard (on CDC, no less ) that sometimes the player doesn't get qualified, just so the team can sign them to a contract with lower pay... any truth to this? Would this even be possible/make sense?

Yes, it is true.

The QO provides for a 10% raise and if you make the offer it can be accepted between July 1 and July 15.

Sometimes a team will not make the QO so they can sign the player for less money.

Also it removes the opportunity for a player who is eligible to file for arbitration.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm still holding out hope that the Canucks are doing this so they can sign Shirokov to a 1-way deal at lower cost, and give him a real shot on the team next year. Bring him back MG!

That would make sense on Shiro. If he gets 10% more he's over $1 mil and there's no way he can be squeezed in. But if he goes the Tambellini route he could effectively replace Tambo and possible take Raymond's spot at the beginning of the year.

Shirokov's QO is only a 5% raise because he made between 660k and 1000k last year.

Prospect Camps two weeks away!!! This is such an exciting time before the lull of the summer...

Anyways, as we've already confirmed Pathrik and Ponthus will be attending... Got another one.

Should be less than two weeks. Usually it starts the Tuesday after free agency, so one week today.

Development camp is always in Vancouver. Training camp is where they spread it around, although I believe I read this year will be in Vancouver.

Do you know if any of the on ice sessions are open to the public?

They usually are. I attended a couple of them last year at UBC.

Is Polasek expected to play with the Wolves (so hard not to say Moose) this year, or return to PEI?
