Dont think there is any chance of that happening. Sens are already short on C, they dont need to lose another. I would hate to see Bobby Holik Cntering on of our lines next year, he being the only C NYR could send back right now(excluding 92 year old messier or underachieving Lundmark).
Spezza is special and i cant wait to see him centering a #1 or #2 line this year, just wish he could still play alongside Havlat
You will have to wait 5 or 10 years to see if he turns out to be like Bonk? If he does then we may trade him for Montoya, if not, and he becomes the great Pro we all think he will be then the Rangers will be SOL (**** out of luck).
to much to give up for spezza im a nyr fan i would love him playing but uits crazy the amount it would take to get him and what ever it was to an extent i feel would be very much so wiorth it, he is the nhl's next ron francis thats not to shabby at all, ottawa is lucky to have a player like him
The centerpeice would have to be: A budding franchise #1 center who is still peaking and makes no more than $2 million base salary before bonuses... something for which the Rangers would first have to trade to make a deal happen. In short, the Rangers cannot acquire him. The Senators need a Spezza right now, and if they deal him, they need the same player back. They have no reason to deal him.
He would be available for the right price -- every player is today -- but the Rangers cannot begin to meet that price. They have only just started to accumulate some young assets, only some of which have solid trade value as yet and none which individually have as much value as Spezza.
