We better stay far away from the penalty box tonight.

Ha, good one. It's the Pens. Buffalo will probably get a double-minor for skating onto the ice incorrectly during the pregame warm-up.

So from Harrington, we've got:

Adam-Boyes-Stafford
Goose-Connolly-Pominville
Mancari-Ennis-Gerbe
Niedermayer-McCormick-Parrish

with PP units (also from Harrington):
Stafford-Connolly-Pominville-Leopold-Sekera
Ennis-Gerbe-Boyes-Mancari-Myers

And our PK will probably look like (my speculation):
Goose-Pommer
Connolly-Nieds
McCormick-??????

Dear Ryan Miller, I hope you're rested, we're gonna need a huge game from you.

Adam-Boyes-Stafford
Gaustad-Connolly-Pominville
Mancari-Ennis-Gerbe
McCormick-Niedermayer-Parrish
No way. That's the most anemic faceoff group I've ever seen if Gaustad isn't at center. There's no way he's playing wing tonight. And why is Lindy breaking up Ennis-Connolly-Stafford after Staff is finding his groove again? He's had two goals in the last 5+ periods and several other chances. If Vanek isn't going to play, insert Adam on that line and the patch the bottom-6 together.

Adam-Boyes-Pominville
Ennis-Connolly-Stafford
Gerbe-Gaustad-Mancari
Nieds-McCormick-Parrish

Goose will probably take all the faceoffs for that line--just think of it as Connolly getting thrown out every time, except just skipping the step of actually throwing him out. But the defensive responsibilities will go to Connolly with Goose skating on the wing.

GAH, these are UGLY.

Ennis-Boyes-Pominville
Gerbe-Connolly-Stafford
McCormick-Adam-Parrish
Mancari-Gaustad-Niedermayer

is probably what I would have tried.

Third line might work with AHL chemistry (or something).

This one could be trouble. lol

The key is, obviously, to stay out of the penalty box. We should be OK otherwise. The real problem here is the PK.

Is Vanek DEFINITELY out for tonight? Maybe he's just a game-time decision and they let him rest this morning to see if he's recuperated?

Without Vanek, Roy, Hecht, Grier and Kaleta, this will be a serious test for the team. If someone like Staff or Boyes or Connolly (or Ennis, Adam, Mancari or Parrish, for that matter) can step up and we don't get into penalty trouble, this could be an epic win. Otherwise, Ewww

Terrible time for the injury bug to hit, but good teams find a way to win.

If Vanek has a bad case of the flu and they've all been traveling together for the past week, it's hard to believe nobody else is feeling under the weather.

I know they have roommates on the road, but I'm hoping they are smart enough to quarantine the sick guys. Anyone know?

Maybe they can put Vanek in the same room with lalime, Morrisonn or Niedermayer

Meh....one of Stafford's goals was at the end of a power play (with a pass from Vanek) and one was on a 4 on 4 (off of a line change, no less)

I don't think his 5 on 5 linemates had anything to do with his scoring, and I don't have any problem getting him away from Connolly, TBH.

I've never heard of only one player being effected by the flu. I've usually heard of 3+ players being effected. So there is likely more to come.

Hamilton said all 7 D-men came off the ice together. So looks like this one might be a game time decision.

Vanek seems to have it the worst; he would probably play through it if it wasn't so bad. I have a feeling a few other players have it, too, but not quite as bad.
