Bates Battaglia not qualified

interestingly i saw in the paper yesterday that he is a ufa, he has been in a constant downward spriwl since 2002 playoffs, but he still does have decent size and could regain his scoring touch, i could see him going back to the canes or the canucks.

btw the avs-caps deal pretty much breaks down to konowalchuk for johansson.

I think he would be a good fit in Montreal, especially with Montreal having lost so many 3rd/4th liners in the past few weeks. With Sundstrom, Juneau, Dackell and Dowd gone, I think he could be a good checking line player for the Habs. Hes got some size, fits the core at 28 years of age and has an offensive game (if he can find it again). I think he would look very nice with Bulis and Bonk. The Habs have a bit of money to throw around, and I wouldnt be dissapointed if we picked him up, though I dont know if he'd be willing to come here. As you said, Carolina might be a better fit.

i'd like to see the preds pick up this guy. speedy, pretty hard worker. i think he'd fit in a lot better than he did in colorado or washington.

Indeed, but entirely accurate.

I wouldn't mind seeing Battaglia on the 3rd line here in Vancouver, but I think it's safe to say his 2001-2002 season was an abberation. He can still be a useful bump and grinder, though.

I know Washington was over a barrel on the Konowalchuk trade, but I couldn't believe Lacroix actualy turned Batters and Johanson into something useful.

I hope BB gets back to respectability though.

Are the Senators still looking for LWers for balance? Someone like Battaglia would compliment their skill players very well. If they found a way to turn him around he might be pretty good fit ... could help them in playoffs time too.

Carolina seems like the logical place for Battaglia to go back. It's the only stop he has had marked success at, and he is very comfortable around this area. If it buys time for Andrew Ladd, i'm all for it. Ladd needs another year in the Dub.
