Holmgren felt best to let Flyers sit and stew

Quote:
Neither Coach Peter Laviolette nor Holmgren addressed the players after the debacle at Madison Square Garden.
Holmgren said he has addressed the team other times during practices, but not after games.
“They know, they were just as embarrassed as the rest of us after that game,” he said. “Sometimes you just got to pull away and let them sit in their own pile of s--- and hit them the next day.
“Peter gave them off the next day [Monday], which was the right thing to do given the week they had, and let them sit in their s---- another day ... And we’ll see. The players know they need to play better. It’s not like they’re not trying.”
Holmgren said he saw improvement prior to the Rangers’ loss.
“There were some signs of us coming out of [the slump],” Holmgren said. “In terms of intensity and being able to play the game we need to play.
“More than anything, what stands out over the last stretch of games is the chances we’ve been giving up. That was what the coaches focused on.”

Sure. Or "Let it stew." You know, something gross for a big run.

Poop themed seems a tad direct. Let It Stew is nice because it's pretty much an inside joke and we can laugh at scatological humor without actually using the words

Michael Leighton in the minors? Let him stew.
Draft picks? Let 'em stew for someone else.

Not only knowing how embarrassed they were and both the coach and the players knowing it, definitely helped, and also so did the return of Carter.

This had better apply to the this team going into the playoffs. Anything other than a SCF appearance and some heads should roll.

I might brick in my pants if we ended up with an AD/Carl Weathers theme.
