Flightless Waterfowl, Forever Foe

The Good -

- Nieds pots his second in as many games
- PKing was very good, even another lengthy 5-on-3
- Hey, no shorthander against!
- Mancari getting into it with Lovejoy after seeing Ennis down and Gaustad getting double-teamed.
- Miller kept them close with some outstanding stops.

The Bad -

- 7 more powerplays against in Pittsburgh. Yeah, yeah... same old same old.
- Parrish's clear/giveaway that lead to the Pens third goal
- Leopold with self-deflection goal #8 or #9 for the season by Sabre D-men
- No enough talent to overcome all the injuries and illness
- Adam-Boyes-Pominville combine for a -6 on the night. Tough to defend either of them, but no points, not even any chances for the line.
- Tinky Tim. He is doing nothing with any effort out there when the puck is in the offensive zone. The effort is just not there.

The Ugly -

- Blowing a game in hand.

Miller was amazing tonight, but he caused the third goal just as much as Parrish did.

I propose all post-game threads be renamed "GBC" for the rest of the season. The good, the bad and the Connolly.

I think he is refering to Miller throwing it up the boards leading to the Pens getting possession .

That play doesn't happen if Parrish is strong on the clear on RW.

Terrible? Snake-bitten I'll give you, but the kid's going hard out there, unlike Connolly who is hardly going.

Terrible is an overstatement. Despite not finishing at least he's generating offense.

True, but Miller is at fault too.

I'm down. Ennis has been terribad. The comparison to Afinogenov has been pretty accurate lately.

Solo stop in front in the third, redirect stops on a couple of powerplays, the breakaway stop... all very good and kept them in the game. Not sure what else he's supposed to do there.

Good:

-Nidermayer with his 2nd
-Penalty killing was superb
-Connolly getting laid out...twice

Bad:

-Refs were not good.
-Another goal off of a dman
-Huge screen on the second goal
-Zero forecheck
-Lindy Ruff's powerplay. Disgusting. Again.
-Vanek's flu...get better, we need you

Connolly:

-Tim Connolly is the worst player on this team. He is afraid to fight in the corners, afraid to skate in open space, cant pass, cant shoot, keeps attempting those ridiculous drop passes, and is useless on the PP...$4.5 million for a penalty killer is bull. He's a disgrace to the game and I cannot wait until he is off of this team.

Ugly: Just got home from watching the game at the local watering hole.I don't know if it a generation of Sabres fan who grew up watching Hasek or what. But, it never ceasing to amaze me how many people blame Miller for losing games when the team only scores one goal.

Good
-Miller, despite the 3 goals, too bad his puckhandling is atrocious, caused the 3rd goal
-Mancari's sticking up for Ennis
-Nieds with Stafford light
-Sekera created some nice opportunities offensively

Bad
-PP
-Scoring lines were invisible
-2nd period
-Deflections
-Leopold-Weber
-Ennis keeps missing the open man...frustrating
-Hated Boyes' line
-Poor Stafford was the only one on his line playing half decent

Ugly
-Refs

Ain't that the truth. About the only way it could get more tiresome is if someone could credit Miller's problems to Pominville's contract.

I thought Miller was good tonight, but he consistently makes terrible decisions when it comes to handling the puck.

I only saw the second and third periods, and unfortunately the desperation just wasn't there. There really wasn't much hustle, which is needed all the more given all the players that were missing.

I will say that Niedermayer and Stafford both looked good. We really missed Vanek. The call-ups did not impress.

He certainly plays with all the intensity of a dead horse.

I'll take Ennis and his flaws over Tim Crappolly any day. At least the kid still has potential.

Ennis: 38 PTS, $857,000
Connolly: 27 PTS, $4,500,000

Seriously. If he got a shutout, he'd still suck. WTF?

Not gonna win a lot of games when your only scoring comes from Robsie Neidsie Mayersie, and you then get shutout for the remaining 57 minutes.

No. Parrish had a half an hour to clear that puck and he's a forward. It's gotta come out of the zone 100% of the time or you don't belong in the NHL. Bad play.
