People don't see the difference? Johnsom came from the middle of the ice directly to the turnbuckle, how the heck can you aim at the turnbuckle then? Compared to Chara who was alongside the boards, looking at the turnbuckle, AND PUSHING HIM towards it.
Ok Johnson clearly knew what he was doing when he hit him.
No suspension, clean play, at most 2 min interference penalty. Anyone that says otherwise is biased, or doesn't know hockey. I wish Max a speedy recovery. It sucks that he was injured, but there was zero intent for injury. You couldn't plan that hit if you tried.
Yes, you could easily plan that hit. I had a teammate in juniors that always timed those hits. I really love people that just blame the speed of the game or simply not knowing what would happen. I played for 10years, it's the biggest BS that I ever heard.
Yea, you never want the opponent to leave in a stretcher. You want to demolish him, maybe stay down for one sec or two, and then get up so you can talk him down some more. But to think players are just innocent of most is completely dumb. Chara knew damn well what he was doing.
1- He knows it's MaxPac, and if we look at the previous games, it's clear he wanted to seek vengeance.
2- After looking at MaxPac, Chara has his head up and clearly sees that the board is coming up (unless you think he's blind).
3- As it comes, Chara gives him an extra push to make sure Pax gets over the boards.
If anything gives me hope here it's the fact that Pacioretty came back quickly after taking that Wiz slapshot in January. Maybe he's preternaturally tough and resilient? Praying he is because I love what he brings to the team.
Surprised they didn't want Pacioretty to be suspended for hurting the turnbuckle and hurting Chara's feelings...
Though, don't look at TSN as of now. RDS and TVA saying that it shouldn't be suspendable. You see Chara shoving MaxPac towards the turnbuckle, you know the history between them but they don't see the intention....As dumb as can be, nothing surprising.
But Subban should shut the hell up. That's probably suspension worthy the way he talks....
No Subban should shut up because never know who's next. Zednik was a thorn in their behinds in the playoffs...boom. Pacioretty was a thorn in their behinds all year...boom. Subban pisses them off like no other player... Boychuk just misses a knee on knee hit in the 1st period.
He says a lot, just by saying that. Give them time to settle - we would not want a pure emotional reaction.
Anyway - can anyone remember one case where the "intent to injure" rule was actually enforced by the NHL discipline committee ? Cause I can't - they never used it - probably because they know that it's vulnerable in court- it's hard to prove intention beyond reasonable doubt
