As much as I like Langdon for the job he does, I think it's a job we don't need. I'd rather have a 4th line with guys who can play a little (or even a lot).

It might not be easy to find guys with Langdon's character, but it IS easy to find guys to fill the enforcer role. There are hundreds of them right now who are free agents, and there will be approximately the same hundreds available as soon as the puck drops on the next NHL season (whenever that may be). Who knows, if we feel we still need that kind of player, probably Langdon himself will be available in the waiver draft.

The Habs should decide whether or not they want to use an enforcer. If they don't, then they don't sign Langdon. But don't not sign him then go looking for another enforcer in the FA pool. Langdon's a great enforcer, he's done a good job for us, and he likes it in MTL.

Personally, I like having a Langdon on the team and see no reason not to bring him back. When he goes the way of Tie Domi and decides that he's too talented to fight anymore, then we can dump him.

I want to know what Gainey is thinking and planning. This is scaring the **** out of me. 3 days in I have heard nothing about anything. He's too quiet and letting Langdon go is kinda mistake we need someone to protect our players.

I will seriously miss Langdon... he seems like a cool guy, and he has some pretty good skills for an enforcer.

BG brought Langdon to the Habs... if he has gone to the devils, then I'm sure BG has a plan to replace him... sad to see him go, but I think there are several guys who can take his place.

Big deal! Langdon is a dime a dozen; he's a fringe player. New Jersey can have him.

Too bad. I thought Langdon could have been a good player to keep in Montreal as a 13th forward. Always did what he's asked and never complained, while having a good influence on the youngsters.

Good character players who never complain about their playing time aren't a dime a dozen. Especially for a club that needs character to rub off on its youth.

Kinda surprise that the habs didn't resign him, considering the praise that Gainey gave him. I wouldn't say I'm too disappointed but would of like to see Langdon back.

Doesn't this make you think Gainey has something up his sleeve? It's like wtf is he doing? Langdon was everything and more we could of wanted him to do. It's just weird he didn't want him back.

Okay Bob, so Langdon's out... Quintal's gone... Souray's got one wrist... and Dwyer was released. Who's doing the fighting next year?

Well, if I'm not mistaken, I think Eric Cairns is available. I think he could be a nice option for this role...

I'm not a big fan of Langdon .... aside his key goal in playoffs and one or two fight during season while the game was still on the line i don't think he has done much for us .

Bouillon and Rivet fight we it's needed , i'm sure Komisarek will do it few times too . Lappy would have been a good fit but he's a Avs now .

Dammit, my aunt called and the trade's true. Darren gave her a call about it sometime yesterday.

Darren going to one of my least favourite teams... yuck.

We really need an enforcer...Bob will have to look at somebody...Oliwa maybe Cairns...for sure...with Quintal and Langdon gone...we don't want Souray and Rivet to be doing the fighting...I believe Boneau is year away...

Bob has always a plan. He's no Rick Dudley. Why don't we give him the benefit of the doubt.

My guess is either he has some UFAs in mind (Marshall, Sundstrom, McCarthy, Grand-Pierre and Mellanby would be valid options) or he wants to make room for 2 or 3 kids, or a combinaison of both.
