It's for real. Chiarelli has hit a new all time low for being classless in hockey.

And now we enter tinfoil hat land.

The NHL discipline standard has long been poor, even incompetent. I don't buy conspiratorial though.

I mean, come on. How much an insensitive a-hole do you have to be to say such things given the context? His absolute worst should have been "No Comment".

Chara only had a phone call, so there's a chance he'll get nothing.

Ok so neither C4 nor C5 were displaced. That's good news for you guys. That really improves his chances.

Lets not jump the gun on Patches condition. A Fractured vertibrae does not mean that his career is over. Far from it. The important part is that there is no spinal cord damage.

Chiarelli joins Julien in a list of people I lost all the respect I had. This is coming from the team who saw 2 GUYS BEING CONCUSSED AND MIGHT HAVE ENDED UP THEIR CAREER. How incredible is that? And then people wonder why there's no respect in the league.

This league needs a death on their hands. That's the ONLY thing that will make them realize what's going on. That's how stupid they are.

Chiarelli said "the momentum" pushed Pac towards the post.....How incredible is it really? Are they really going to stop being dumb? Or is it becoming their identity?

At the end of the article he says he cracked his C4 and C7.

Horrible injury and he was not exactly the same after, but this bodes well for Pacioretty. Assuming there's not more to learn, I'd guess Pacioretty has more to fear from the head injury than the neck injury.
Savage didnt have a severe concussion.

That severe concussion is possible 6 months of inactivty RIGHT there... he may never be the same again, ..how about that ******* s***

If its displaced, youd basically have to readjust your posture and such, right?

This is a sad day for us Hab fans but an even sadder day for the game of hockey. What Chara did was pre-meditated and he had been trying to get at Max for the little push he got after an OT goal. What a tough guy he is, he potentially has destroyed the career of one of the best young players our team has developed in many years. No suspension will be strong enough for that monster. It shows the lack of repect that exists in todays society, for God sake this is a 22 year old kid that may never have a normal life again. I pray for Karma.

I am raging, I just don't want to believe what is hapening and Chiarelli should be fined for such a stupid comment, I wonder how longer these Bruins will be protected.

He was such a promising young player too.. BIG, super fast, strong, great shot, dirty goals no problem..

His size and speed and goal scoring ability is something hard to come by..

I can't feign surprise at Chiarelli's comment, par for the course for the Bruins. I'd like to see Gauthier call him out on it, perhaps even suggest that his Boston counterpart is a duplicitous, knob gobbler that ought to go **** himself.

I think that story about Campbell sending emails regarding calls against his son, and ripping a referee for said calls, indicates he does use his influence with NHL employees.

The fact that it is non-displaced is a good sign. I'm no doctor but C4 is just a reference to the 4th vertebrae, but it's the severity of the fracture to that vertebrae which determines the treatments/recovery time.

Some C4 fractures can be treated by simply wearing a neck brace for a period of time. On the other hand it could mean surgery, bone fusion, etc..

Again, the fact that it is non-displaced or that there is no compression is a really good sign, but I'll also add that he is VERY lucky in his bad luck.

Just a quick thought as well on the speed of the medical release from the habs. Usually the habs are very slow in releasing any injury update, could it be that this time, they released it this quickly to make sure Chara gets the book thrown at him? If so, good on them!

I'm of the opinion that had GM Gauthier grown a pair after the Feb 9 game and made the damn call for discipline against those thugs, this may very well not have happened.

I'm in tears and I'm pissed as hell that Patches and his family have to live through this.

The NHL will surely lose me as a fan if nothing is done to stop this crap.

Get Well Soon Patches!

Sure when I delegate things to my secretary I know they'd never, ever try and come to a decision that I would like. No conspiracy required, Campbell's employee can't really be independent of the man he works for. The NHL not a conspiracy, it's a joke.

This is why the Boston Bruins franchise is despicable. It always was, and it always will be. Claude Julien lost ALL of the respect I had for him. And he's from my neck of the woods (no pun intended). He SHOULD have asked his players to PLAY hockey instead of seeking revenge after last game's fiasco. Instead, he let a puke-rookie spew some garbage in the media (but he's of the right color, so it doesn't count, right?), he let the tension grow (because he believes his team feeds on being bullies), and look at what happens. It would have been VERY easy to say to Chara before the game: 'listen, bud, I know you've got this thing for the young Pacioretty, but drop it. It's of no use. Concentrate on hockey.' I've done it MANY times with hockey players. He didn't, evidently so by his reaction after the game and Chara's reaction DURING the game.

He's partly responsible for that fiasco now. Just like Crawford was when the Bertuzzi incident happened.

Claude, you're a disgrace to the team you once coached.

Or he might not miss a step. I'm not going to pretend that this isn't a very serious injury, but I think people are reacting to things that have not happened yet (or might not happen at all). Try to be positive.

He's on the road to recovery, and for now, the news isn't nearly as bad as it could be.
