Without reading through the thousands of posts, this injury isn't career threatening is it? Max will play hockey again next season? Or is everything still up in the air?

No new update. The cracked vertebrae will likely be fully healed by next October. The concussion? who the hell knows.

I'd say the odds of him never playing again are slim-to-none. How well he plays when he eventually comes back and how long it will take for said comeback, that's anybody's guess at this point.

Nobody knows yet. It has been 2 days since Chara broke his neck. He was a able to walk today and also got back to his home. Will he play again? It looks probable, but it's hard to say. Concussions are really hard to gauge.
Yeah I guess my biggest concern was the broken vertebra. Neck injuries, especially a broken bone, are an incredibly scary thing. Concussions are different for a lot of people, some can recover quickly and some not. Hopefully Max is one of those people who can fully recover without any ill effects.

If he's shown anything during his short tenure in Montreal, it's that he's one resilient SOB.
BTW, thanks to your Sabres for beating the Bruins tonight and good luck to them the rest of the way (except against one team). I think they can do damage to some of the top seeds if they make it, and it's looking likely that they will.

Thanks for asking. Sabres has a very decent fanbase here on HF. Big contrast to the hated Bruins.
I am not entirely certain I am comfortable with these news; given the concussion and the next fracture I'd feel safer shutting him down until September. MaxPac may want to rush back, but for his health it's best that he doesn't.
Still, by far the most important bit is that this obviously portends a full recovery, for which I am extremely glad.

i feel the same way
but the guy is back
i hope he take the 4 month break (between may and september)
That's excellent news. The fact that the current prognosis is 4-6 weeks is very reassuring even for how his condition probably is now. He must be making solid improvements already.
