But in any event, a broken neck is serious stuff.

Let him sit out a year or so.

The intent argument will get used, but is worthless.

If there was proven intent to injure... Chara would be more worried about the RCMP than Colin Campbell.

That's always been the line when police get involved in hockey. When it's blatantly obvious that someone is trying to kill someone.

This is not one of those cases, not saying it should be, but if it were proven or admitted... it would become one fast.

Which is why the NHL must ignore intent and just focus on what happened.

Sucks for Paches and as a HABS fan this is a big loss but I have seen this same play hundreds of times it is a hockey play I say 1-3 games for the suspension but honestly I would not be suspending him if I were in charge it is a ****** deal but it happens. Hockey is a rough tough sport and people get hurt playing it.

That is bad.

But, i pretty sure that when C4 is broken, it could have lead to a "arrêt-respiratoire"

So you've seen this happen between 2 guys where 1 guy was a target for the past 2 games?

I feel like crying reading this. Please someone reports me a good news on him. I loved Pacioretty way too much for his career to be over.

What did happen?

1. History of escalating violence between the teams. Most noticable example is Chara going after Pacioretty, including a vicious cross check to his legs that is hard not see as an attempt to injure.
2. Before game, Bruins player says his teammates are justified in "taking runs at them"
3. Score is 4-0 for Habs.
4. Puck is long gone.
5. Chara uses his arm to drive Pax's head into the Stanchion.
6. Chara admits he knows they're at the bench, but claims ignorance of how benches are constructed.

Yeah, looking at the facts, who could say for sure if there was intent. Juries convict on less.

Well habs fans none of us are particularly happy about the injury. We're sad for you, and we can relate having probably seen Savard's career come to an end too.

The Chara suspension won't end up being long enough for any of you to feel justice. The only justice will be beating us in the playoffs, which is the kind of competitive spirit I hope from you guys. Let's hope that we meet there and have a good clean series.

Seems pretty near to be kinda Steve Moore injury.

He had 3 broken vertebreas and grade 3 concussion.

How anyone can say that there was no intent is beyond me, Chara was looking at Maxpac and the glass and had to know what the outcome was going to be. With 16 seconds left in the second period and down 4-0 away from home not much chance of a comeback, may as well send a message. That's exactly what Chara did

We keep seeing examples of how the NHL hands out suspensions based on the severity of injuries. He was gonna get 2 to 4 games. Let's see what he gets now that it's potentially career ending. My guess is 2 to 4 games.

This league is a joke. That idiot might have ruined a young man's life. Hope he can't sleep for 2 months.
