NHL logic: breaking someone's neck is OK as long as you've never done it before.
Yep pretty much, it won'T be long until we see something like that happen again, richard started the head hunt last year and since then all the players has been head hunting. Now chara does this with no consequences??? U can bet other players will do the same.
If you happen to be near chara and it happens that there is a 20 feet hole besides him... just run, push him without looking and then if the police ask you just say you didnt saw this hole.. you didnt want chara to catch the bus before you ... u should be fine.
Accident happens after all, yesterday was perfect proof...
I'm saying it now. Someone on that Bruins team is gonna get hurt.
With the Savard injury and the Bergeron injury in the past, out of all teams in the NHL one would have thought the Bruins would be a team not trying to do the same.
Food for thought.
What happens say in 3-4 years that the same happens in a Montreal and Boston game, but this time it is Tinordi doing the same to a potential franchise player like Seguin...does it go unpunished, or is there a major suspension because of Seguin being a star at that time?
Buddy, it's the NHL, and that's how Scotty Bowman dealt with thugs. He dealt by punishing them with fists first. Forget this 'we punish them with goal' BS. He had the Habs punish them with their fists first. THEN, Montreal beat up the Flyers with goals. And it ended the goonery domination.
Would it have prevented yesterday's action? ABSOLUTELY!!! Chris Nilan would have gone Chara BEFORE the game and tell him: 'you touch Patches, and I touch Bergeron, understood?' Would have done the same to other players. He did the same in the 80's, when Svoboda (I believe) got hit viciously in a Boston game. Next time around, Rick Middleton (who was their pretty boy) got a freaking nasty six-incher right under the chin. Nilan got some heat. But the nastiness on the star players STOPPED.
That's the NHL. That's the 'unwritten rule' everybody writes about. You touch my star, I'll touch yours. Unfortunately, we have a coach and a GM that NEVER believed in that.
Bowman and Burns knew better.
In those times you could have an entire line and a half to "waste" on goons and in those cases there were tough players who could also contribute. The bruins have a lot of these types and overall they are a good team, but like we saw last night, when a team with skill and a little fire turns it on, they get spanked. That's how you win in this league. I am all for bigger, tougher guys (ahem, like Patches), but not a guy who is just there to serve as an intimidation post. How many times does the Laraque failure have to be brought up? Didn't stop the cheapshots and dirty hits from them. They just refused to actually fight (well lucy). It has been discussed ad nauseum that todays players are so into the game that they don't think about the repercussions. Look at the Pitt-NYI situation. Would you say that was how hockey should be played in the NHL?
Just wondering, cuz I honestly don't know, how do you impeach a commisioner or a DHO? Culture MUST CHANGE.
**** you Mike Murphy you gutless ****ing coward piece of ****. ****ing morons running this league no wonder hockey is the laughing stock of the 4 big north american leagues. Time for the good old boys (Cambell Bettman and co.) to ****ing step down before someone gets killed out there. ****ing disgrace.
The Problem with players around the league and the "insiders", is they are not taking into consideration their past feud. That is a HUGE part of this. Ignoring it is ridiculous and probably what the nhl did too. I wonder if It was Moen or someone else going down the wing, if he would have shoved them in head first into the stanchion.
Some sort of penalty should have been given out. It was clear to see Pac did not have the puck at the time of getting hit. I understand that if it was nay where else on the ice it would be interference but it wasn't, Chara was aware of his surroundings and knew exactly what he was doing when he hit Pac. Chara should be gone for at least 2games.
