Only if Giroux allows it.

I know this can turn out bad but is anyone else hard thinking about a well rested Prongs in the playoffs?

Last year Chicago struggled horribly after the Olympics; they got it together for the last 7 games of the season (they went 6-0-1) but because they lost in OT to Detroit in the final game of the season; they lost the 1# seed to the Sharks.

Even though their record was good going into the playoffs; they were still kind of in a slump and to make matters worse they had to play a really tough team in Nashville. At the time Blackhawk fans were pissed they had to play the Predators instead of a much easier Colorado team in the first round; but as it turned out Nashville played them hard and made Chicago a better team.

My point is the playoffs are so unpredictable; anything can happen (the Flyers and Canadiens proved that last year) if we lose the number one seed what the hell can we do? if we win the cup none of it will matter...

Well rested also = rusty. Want to see him get some games in so he's up to speed before the real season.

This. I'd love to see Prongs back with 3-4 games left at 100% to get up to game speed before game one of the playoffs. You don't need him coming in rusty and making mistakes early in the series.

He started the season without any exhibition games, it should not be a problem. At least he can skate.

at least he will be able to stay in skating shape. This does suck, but we have been fortunate with the long term injuries this season.

Boynton looked better than OD to me last game, and OD has struggled for a couple weeks. I wouldn't mind Gus giving OD a breather. I thought he looked good in his only game for us; he looked quick and decisive with the puck.

I don't think they'll take O'D out unless he's really hurt or unless they win 3 or 4 in a row and get some breathing room in the standings.

They may have to change up the pairings.

One of the problems with just plugging Boynton in for Pronger is that it means more responsibility for O'D against top lines:

Timonen-Coburn
Carle-Boynton
O'D-Meszaros

They may have to switch them up a bit, splitting Kimmo and Coby to spread out the speed, perhaps:

Carle-Meszaros
Timonen-Boynton
O'Donnell-Coburn

I still think they need to move Carter back to centre until Briere wakes up, it's hurting the team to have the best C playing RW.

Giving Boynton responsibility is no better than giving OD responsibility. If you want to load up the top 4:

Timonen-Coburn
Mez-Carle
Gustaffsson- OD
Boynton

Gus prevents the super slow OD-Boynton pairing

Basically my point is there are too many excuses being made...some of them are already on record as saying they have just become too complacent and it's a mental thing. Obviously fatigue can contribute but they have had some pretty long breaks throughout the year and other teams are not exactly playing less. The only one who seems tired to me is OD but the dude is a geriatric..everybody else shouldn't have the excuse of needing rest except maybe Timonen. We're starting to relive the Stevens days with this rest BS. Pronger is another one..yeah he's older like Timonen but he hasn't exactly played a full season either and hasn't had his best of years although it will be nice come playoff time if he's healthy and can go full throttle...wrists/hands though are funny..they take LONG to fully heal....mine took two years to feel somewhat normal.

Also Boyton KILLED Keith when he was with the Hawks. Throwing him with Timonen is the exact same thing.

I'm pretty excited to see Gus get some more NHL time, and maybe he can move ahead of Boyton in the pecking order (doubtful). This also provides homer with a better idea of what he has to work with next year, and what moves he can make with the D, if Gus proves some quality.

Hope you enjoyed his 2 goal performance tonight!

Didn't see most of tonight's game because of class, was Pronger's absence out there noticeable or did the D step it up in his absence?

Wake me when he does it in a big game against a playoff team.

Don't get me wrong, he played well tonight, but it's not uncommon at all for Carter to perform like that against lesser teams, but vanish when the spotlight is brighter.

What about his 2 goal 1 assist game vs Chicago last time we played them? SCF rematch has a big spotlight no?

I disagree. He was spectacular for Team Canada in the WJHC and has been injured the past 2 playoff seasons in Philly. It will be interesting to see how people treat Pronger when he comes into the playoffs cold after this later surgery. Hopefully all those who rip Carter for his play after coming back from injury will treat Pronger the same way. Not saying I agree with it at all but Pronger gets excused for everything on this board while Carter gets crucified.

Do you really think last night's game was against a lesser opponent after seeing how this team has lost to so many supposedly weak teams lately?

Three lucky bounces and a complete no-show for the rest of the game.
