When did Joseph do it?

08 Calgary v. San Jose doesn't count, he joined partway through...

Thought that would be the case! Also, Ryan Whitney just said Lidstrom "plays the game in a rocking chair". Is that a real saying or is it the obvious Doug Harvey allusion?

What's the obvious allusion?

Uh oh! I hope I didn't pull a Gord Miller! Haha. I think Toe Blake coined the "plays defense like he's in a rocking chair" about Harvey. I've never heard it said about someone else until tonight.

Can't say I've heard that one; I kind of doubt that one that old and (I think) unfamous would be known by a modern hockey player...but who knows, maybe Ryan Whitney is well-versed in hockey lore.

Just checked. Yeah, not only has Joseph no playoff shutouts at 40+, he doesn't have a full playoff game any older than 36.

Ken Dryden going to lose his seat.

Good. Dryden is overrated because he won cups playing for a stacked team and retired before he had to play through his declining years. Don't know how anyone could vote for him.

Plante had 4 in St Louis after the age of 40.

Maybe Gord meant in the last 20 years?

If I'm lucky, I might still get Vancouver right.

wow, there are some hot teams.

- Tampa bay has won 7 in a row,
- Boston has won 7 of 8,
- San Jose has won 7 of 9.

Anyone catch Horton/O'Donnell? Not many punches, but wow, did we ever get a reminder of how strong O'Donnell is.

San Jose won every OT game. It's like five straight now or something.

I'm really surprised by how Washington went out with a whimper. They are so talented and I thought they actually paced themselves this year, rather than going all out in the regular season only to be burnt out in the playoffs. Guess not. Ovechkin is a great playoff scorer as always, but he's not a two-way player, so he isn't a force at both ends of the rink as his sorryass teammates fold as usual,

Ovechkin isn't outright irresponcible defensively like Kovalchuk or Kessel or something. He's just not a two-way style player. He was superb, as always. I still believe it's his teammates and the coaching.

Backstrom is so lazy. Semin and Green dissapear as usual.

Anyway, Thornton out there proving he's still one of the best players in the league. I'll take Datsyuk v. Thornton showdown over Crosby v. Ovechkin anytime.

I'm surprised too, Ovechkin and the role players can only do so much on their own.

They just need a supporting cast with a heartbeat. Most of the big guns on his team just don't want it. Green was all beat up though.. not sure about Backstrom but he had a horrible year.

I'm just shocked at how well Tampa plays their system. Guy Boucher not being up for the Adams is a ****ing travesty.

Such a frustrating game. Vancouver is so superior to Nashville yet here we are at 2-2 going to the third yet again. What other magic trick will the Preds pull for their next goal...
