Datsyuk did his best to do so. Why can't Thornton ever have a dominant series like that?

I know Rob Hisey did it but not at this level of competition:

That goal is beautiful. I especially like that it was clearly done practically and not a dumb risk taken to show boat.

This doesn't answer your question TDMM but take a look at this: http://www.behindthenet.ca/nhl_stati...16+17+18+19+20

68% higher than anyone in the playoffs not his linemate.

< 50% offensive zone starts.

Is playoff qualcomp based on the regular season or playoff stats of your opponents? If it's based off playoff stats only, seems there would be a lot of noise (Datsyuk would be insanely highly rated as Comp for beating up on the Coyotes).

Still impressive to be high on the stat by any margin.

If Thornton wins the Smyth, does he suddenly become "clutch?". Heh

I think it's unfair to lump them together. Henrik has been ****, but seeing as how he hasn't practiced since the end of the Nashville series, I think the injury speculation is right on the money. Daniel has been average by his standards; while he needs to step up if the Canucks want to beat SJ, it must be tough to do without a center.

I would say, the Canucks are not getting past San Jose without the Sedins waking up.

Wow.. very unexpected and devastating news. Derek Boogard is dead, they don't know why.

Condolences to his family. Sad time.

I would agree. Henrik has obviously been battling an injury (was given ''maintenance days'' all week instead of practice).

Keep in mind the Sedins had Keith and Seabrook in round 1, and then Suter and Weber draped all over them last round. Thats pretty tough - San Jose has no such dominant defensive pair. I'm looking for them to explode in this round, but that could just be wishful thinking as well.

San Jose makes up for not having that dominant defensive pair with a lot of offensive depth. They have a lot of firepower in that lineup, more than anything Chicago and especially Nashville have, IMO. Canucks are going to have to match that blow for blow.

One serious thing going for the Canucks in this round, is that they have the goaltending advantage for the first time in the playoffs, IMO.

Luongo vs. Crawford?

Crawford was far, farrrr better. He carried the team to game 7. If it wasn't for Kesler, Canucks lose round 1.

Well yeah obviously he was better in the series but coming in there's no way you say Crawford has the advantage

Well, when I said I think they have the advantage against San Jose, I mean throughout the whole series. With Crawford, I always knew there was a chance that he could outplay Luongo, but I don't think that Niemi or whoever San Jose decides to play even has a chance of outplaying Luongo.

Niemi has been pretty amazing at times. If he can avoid his 5 minutes of sucking every game, he can definately outplay Luongo.

Didn't Suter and Weber stop checking the Sedins and move over to the Kesler line later in the series?

If the Sedins play to their potential, they'll beat the Sharks. They are a better team on paper in just about every way.

All I ask for is the effort they gave in the second half tonight - bring that every minute this series (unrealistic, I know). The cards should fall and the better team should win.

San Jose is seriously weak with that defence core.
