NHL 2004 needs some work

NHL 2004 is too easy to trade for top players - Pittsburgh offered me Evgani Malkin for my third round pick, jed ortmeyer, and dan lacoutoure and I gladly accepted. Also, I traded my second rounder for Alexander Ovechkin and my first rounder got a nice player. What is it with the crappy trades and why do you have to spend points to be able to see the stats for the players in the NHL Draft? that is so stupid. I dont have the time in that game to set stadium prices or whatever - it seems I have unlimited money to spend because I can create 10 players who require like 15 million dollars each and are able to sign them all just fine. The game needs alot of work - I like the online play though.. I was ranked at one time like 45th overall which isnt bad

It's a good game, but way way too easy. I took the Penguins, the Wild, the Blackhawks and the Capitals, and turned them into Stanley cup dynasties within 2 years. Way too easy. but yeah, i play a lot.

I like the Dynasty mode idea, but it does need some work........I also don't like the fact that you can't see past game box scores.

Yeah they need to show box scores and INJURIES! The only way to find out whos hurt, and for how long etc is to watch that stupid little ticker the day of the injury. pretty lame!

But yeah the game is just too easy now.

Hoyl crap, the injuries...how do you leave that out. And I want a trade log as well. Sometimes the hooking gets absolutetly ridiculous.

NHL 2004 gameplay wise sucks. The dynasty mode was kinda cool for a while, but ESPN Hockey was a much better hockey game, with all it's faults it was still the most realistic hockey game I ever played...

trades

And how about when computer offers you trades? its always an even trade too - either 1 for 1 or 2 for 2 or 3 for 3 and sometimes includes pick or picks and most of the time its a retarted offer - like a 70th rank player and a 4th rounder for a 90th rank player from me and an 80th rank... its stupid - plus they dont give you info on the players that your being offered in a trade they just show there names and ratings. There's 3 things I would like while playing the game - STOP with the scoring on yourself crap that seems to happen every single game.... If there's 2 guys who want to fight do not show that at the bottom of the screen and block the clock so we cant see how much time is left. Also, If we select to play as only one player in one position then they could atleast make it so the camera follows that player around rather than the puck. It's hard to go for a linechange when you cant see the bench and your skating around to the side trying to find it.

At least, now we can rely on NHL Eastside Hockey. Building a dynasty in this game can be a lot more challenging, not to mention a little stressful.

oddly enough, i played the game for the first time just the other day and didn't find it that easy to score. the game didn't seem that terrible to me.

Get ESPN 2K5 instead! </shameless plug>

You may be able to get it for $19.99. Sega is doing a big promotion with ESPN NFL 2k5 (which is going to be amazing), selling it for $19.99, hope they do the same with hockey.

From what I read I think NHL 2005 will be by far the best hockey game ever.

As for NHL 2004 I hated it mostly because of so many annoying flaws in the gameplay. Especially those "long distance checks" not sure how to explain that.

I tried ESPN 2004 and thought it sucks even more, just not fun at all.

Even though there were a ton of flaws, i thought the game was a huge upgrade from 2003, and I enjoyed it for the most part. I can't wait for 2005 after hearing what you had to say.

2004 is kinda 'eh'..

best one yet, gameplay-wise, is 2002 by far..

sucks to have to create so many, but i'm using it for WC2004 rosters only at this point; most of that was easy through trades, etc., and only had to create a couple--Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Leopold, Ovechkin

just set up a russia v. usa game:

Rolston Modano Guerin
Tkachuk Weight Drury
Roenick Smolinski Amonte
Hull Conroy Langenbrunner

Leopold Rafalski
Leetch Chelios
Hatcher Schneider

DiPietro

--

Kovalchuk Datsyuk Kovalev
Samsonov (Viktor) Kozlov Zubruis
Ovechkin Chubarov Afinogenov (the DYNAMO Moscow line)
Kvasha Yashin V. Bure

Gonchar A. Markov
Kasparitis Malakhov
Tverdovsky Khavanov

Nabokov
