It's not a joke. It was speculation on this forum that popped up with frightening regularity when Sakic was playing. From enthusiastic Canuck fans. Tavares to Leafs is just the new flavor of the same old crap.

well i've only been here for a couple months so i guess i missed that

like i said, i'm not saying it *will* happen. but there's no reason tavares would ignore offers when he's an FA. especially if the leafs is willing to throw money at him. everyone knows burke wanted to draft the guy.

Nice spelling on your user name. It's Vezina, not Vezna. The worst part is you have the trophy as your avatar

But, teams don't give away players like Tavares. They just don't.

You'll either have to pay out of your ass in draft picks when you sign him to an offer sheet, or you have to give up some serious young talent and hope he signs with your team.

Waiting till FA??

What makes you think that Tavares even makes it to UFA status? Plus, that's still several years away.

So do the Oilers. You could get one of those two players for that package. Colborne = future 3rd or 4th line center, picks are good, but I would only trade one of Edmonton's better player's for higher picks.

If Gagner is, in fact, a solid second line center then no way Oilers are giving him up for a low 1st rounder.
FYI, Hemsky does have frequent injuries, but its always something different. Saying he has frequent concussion and shoulder issues is wrong. Penner doesn't have more value than Hemsky, Lombardi wanted Hemsky, but took Penner because Tambellini is asking for way more for him.

Just kidding, you're never getting him.
i'm just pointing out that there's no promise that isles will have tavares forever. him walking away from the isles isn't exactly a far-fetched idea

Well that's good to know, Joe Colborne will be a bust. Might as well put him on waivers because he CLEARLY has little to no value.

Meh, Hemsky will probably be gone anyway next year anyway. Last year on his contract and the Oil will probably be hovering around the bottom of the league again. Might be best to trade him next deadline or he'll probably just walk away from Edmonton

That is fine. He will still land us a 1st + a pretty good player\prospect

Yeah, that's exactly what Colorado needs. More center prospects and turning their lottery pick into lower picks. It's such a good fit, they toss in a talented NHL player and promising prospect just to say "thank you!" to the Leafs.

That you need to stop posting and go see a doctor. Avs would no do this.

[A bit too mean - cheerfully withdrawn]

The best part was when the 1st poster REALIZED that the Avs are set to draft 3rd instead of 5th or 6th, yeah, like that makes a big difference on how horribly lopsided the deal was. Please give the Avs a ton of unproven crap, for a top-4 d-man, a good prospect and a lottery pick.

I'm serious, don't forget the strap when you go to the video store or the mall.

Never said he had no value, just not enough for a more talented centre with more upside, or a first line offensive dynamo.

Edmonton isn't trying to move them. Thats why they are still in Edmonton. Or wait, let me try.

I'll give you Cogliano, LA's first rounder and our 2nd rounder for Schenn and Kessel. No? Well, that's why those guys are still in Toronto I guess.

I would trade:

Edmonton's first round pick (2011) - should be a #1 to #3

for Colborne, Phil 1st rounder, Bost 1st rounder, TML 2nd Rounder.

Would even consider adding on.
