That gif could give someone a seizure. Anyone else watching the news, I can't stop ... the images from Japan are awful, but polarizing as well.

I'm out of the country for a week starting tomorrow, so tonight is the last Caps game I can watch for a while. I hope they leave me feeling good about this team.

This bad ju-ju GDT isn't starting things off on the right foot, though.

Very polarizing. Although probably inevitable at some point, given Japan's population and the fact they are in an ultra high risk area for earthquakes, volcanoes, etc.

It's like Naples in Italy...some day Vesuvius is going to blow again, and the population is so crammed into a tiny area, it's going to be awful. Even evacuation routes there are primitive.

The Caps will be competing with our local college basketball team for air time tonight. Definitely a two TV set lineup tonight.

Go Caps, and my Terps, please puke on Duke for me.

I thought Skinner was a center? Is there a reason for the change?

I'm thinking we really throw the league a curve and start Ford in game 1...

"History shows again and again how nature points out the folly of man."

We may be getting better at predicting these things but we still have a long way to go at cleaning up after them and getting the survivors cared for.

I thought he'd been playing wing for a good while now.

He's just more suited as a winger at the NHL level right now, not very good at faceoffs, a bit too small, and not quite ready for the defensive responsibilities being a center brings yet either. The Canes are atrocious at face-offs, and though Jokinen is a natural winger, he is pretty good at those and has the size for a center, but you may see Ruutu playing center at times tonight. With that line you could put all 3 of them at any of the forward spots and it could work.

wow check out the intelligent conversation between fans of opposite teams in a GDT.

Anyhoo, Canes win 4-1 due to the GDT debacle.

And what is the over/under on the number of new posts in the Coachapalooza thread as a result of a Caps' loss?

Always liked Canes fans - makes me like a team I should hate given the close games they always give us no matter the difference in the standings.

As for the GDT debacle, no pressure, court. This streak was started with mrwarden against the Isles, I got the second game against the Isles, and 442 has taken us home since. You better know what you're doing.

If I am going to make a parallel to Caps goalies that makes 442 Neuvirth as he has taken the bulk of the load. mrwarden has been on and off again starting GDTs so that would make him the oft-injured Varlamov. I've only ever made two GDTs so that makes me Holtby. By process of elimination that makes you... Todd ****ing Ford. I don't like where this is headed.

Too late. I have the hockey442apalooza thread template already set up and ready to go depending on how the game goes tonight. Keep your fingers crossed...

seeing as this is really a "night before" rather than "gameday" thread, I don't think waking up in time would have mattered.

Unless he lives in Japan, except then he'd have more important things to worry about.
