I think that Monahan may be a safer pick because he has a 2 way game that give him upside as a great #2 center. However Lindholm is an elite playmaking Swede with 1st line upside which make him a better player IMO.

I'll take the player with the higher upside. May not have the two-way play of Monahan, but he's certainly no slouch in his own end either.

Lindholm is the better player. Hes a better playmaker and has #1c potential (elite potential in my book) He is also good in all 3 zones and uses his body well.

Monahan is a great prospect to, and probaly a better fit for my team

Lindholm is a very good two-way player. He beats Monahan in pretty much every category, minus size (and Lindholm's no shrimp).

I'd take Lindholm 10 times out of 10.

I just think this kid will turn some heads the second he cracks the league. I see him turning out as Nicklas Backstrom with a edge to his game.

If ever we stay put at #9, I'm crossing my fingers that he'll drop ala Forsberg last year, so we can pick him up.

Lindholm could fall to 9 but, I seriously doubt it. If he is not gone after Nashville, Calgary, and Phoenix I would be extremely shocked. All of those teams needs 1st line centers.

I think Lindholm might have the better skill set, but from what I've seen I like Monahan a lot.

This.

Lindholm will probably put up more points in the regular season, but if I'm playing the Kings in a playoff series, I would probably prefer Monahan. Not that Lindholm would suck against the Kings, I would just prefer going with the bigger Monahan in that situation. Tough call for CGY if it comes down to a choice between the 2.

Phoenix is picking 12th I think and there's no way he slides that far. New Jersey has been going Swede heavy in the 1st round for the past couple of years now (Larsson, Josefson, Tedenby) and I would be beyond shocked if they pass him up if he's on the board at #9.

Ah my bad Phoenix is picking 12th, so I think New Jersey has a realistic shot at Limdholm then, thanks for your awareness!

I actually feel the same way. Hoping that one of them is taken so I don't have to regret Calgary passing up on one for the other.

Its gunna be funny if Calgary takes 1 and Edmonton takes 1 (very real chance). Both fan bases will be bickering over who is better and why the other one sucks

As a mutual 3rd party, I'm hoping for this.

I for some reason just see Monahan ending up an Oiler. It just seems to make too much sense.

The Flames (AKA Feaster) would be real stupid to pass up on Monahan. They've been looking for a big body down the middle for years now and they can actually pick one of "free of charge" but hey, we're talking about Feaster here, so who knows... he might pick Zadorov at #5.

I think it makes sense for Flames to pick Lindholm @ 6th. He is likely BPA (if somehow could aggregrate draft ranking it might show) He is more offensively gifted and has #1c potential while having the size to play in the western conference. I think he will be able to carry a line and is someone to build around

Monahan is a great fit for the Oilers at 7 because he is a 2 way guy with great size and defensive capabilities. He looks to peak out at a average #1c but most likely good 2c. Oilers also have offensive wingers so they dont have to solely rely on him to carry offensive load

Either one ill be happy

Lindholm started out great, but cooled off as the season went on.

Monahan produced great on a terrible team. Think of what he could have done on a good one.

I'm going with Monahan, but a very tough choice.

The same Feaster that drafted Baertschi, Gaudreau, Gillies, Brossoit?

This.

I don't get the hate on Feaster and his drafting, and this is coming from a division rival. I get that you make fun of him because of the O'Rielly situation, but Gaudreau, Gillies and Broissoit are really solid picks, considering they're from the later rounds. Add in Baertschi and possibly Jankowski and you'll realize that Feaster isn't as bad at drafting as one's come to expect.

The GM does very little with drafting... he just goes off what his scouts tell him.

Lindholm is being compared to Zetterberg and will be one of the steals of this draft.

I like both but I like Monahan more so I vote for him.

Lindholm is the higher potential guy, Monahan is a very safe pick and virtually the perfect top 6 center if he develops properly.

I like Lindholm a bit more for his higher offensive potential and besides his defensive game doesn't seem too far off.

I would be happy with either player on the Flames.
