I've always wondered, do you guys get in trouble for turning around and watching the game (if you're in the upper level)? I guess the lower level ushers can watch the game, eh?

Cool. Our section (228) is pretty laid back and self regulated so we have not used the service yet. I'm not above asking someone to lean back or to ask someone to sit in the aisle while play is going on.

Luckily, I'm not the only one so it doesn't single one person out as the "bad guy".

No we are allowed to watch the game as uppers, but if one of our supervisors does see that we are solely watching the game and not keeping an eye on the crowd, we will probably get talked to.

Gobaby- It is nice when we see a leaner get tapped by another fan telling them to lean back. I usually tend to keep an eye on the leaner, and make sure it doesn't continue to happen. That's when problems occur, and beers get tossed (all over my fancy blue blazer).

Nice to see an usher here.

Quick question: What's with the UBBER script policy on not hitting the glass? I don't really care one way or the other, but I've never seen this enforced anywhere else...

One reason is because there are microphones at various spots on the glass for the TV feed. Probably other reasons regarding to respect the arena, but when a fan questions me, I tell them it's because of the microphones.

I with you on this one. I sat on the glass once right at the edge of a corner. I probably only did it a couple times when there was a real prolonged scrum going on and only for a couple seconds, but it was a blast and I paid for it. I didn't go all Puddy on em.

I have a friend who has been an usher there for a few years and he said it is a safety issue. Wouldn't want someone(s) to hit them just right and start to loosen something

I'm sure that's the company line, but let's get real here.

I'd like to see the Sharks announce the "no leaning forward" announcement right after the first commercial break. They always announce it too early (right after the first stoppage in play I think?), like when people aren't paying attention and still trying to settle into their seats.

And the people who aren't at their seats when the game starts are usually casual fans who don't know any better. It never made sense to me to make the announcement before the pregame show.

Yea so do I. That's probably the biggest problem we have every night. And then there are the guys who question us, and continue to lean forward because they rode their motorcycle from Hollister and don't want to lean back all game, making it difficult for us the entire game.

so when you text in for a leaner, do you give the seat number for the leaner, or my seat number?

Either is fine. When we get the text our supervisor will notify us, and we will keep an eye on the area where you're sitting. Then we will let the leaner know he needs to sit back.

Jurgy25... you seem like a cool cat. It's nice to get your perspective.

WRT leaning - YES, I HATE leaners. I really don't think they get how bad it makes the views behind them.

WRT hitting the glass - it doesn't annoy me. I get it, most people who do it are there paid a ton for those tickets and as far as I'm concerned they can do what they want.

I always thought damn, if the players hit the glass so hard how the hell is someone tapping it supposed to hurt it?

I suppose it could get annoying, but I try not to be so smug and think about if I were there for the first time.
