Somehow Stortini is still less of a hockey player than Gillies

Isles say no because there is not enough value coming back for their best defenseman, and if healthy he would have been their best player.

Oilers say no because they have enough injury prone players already.

Just to throw in my .02, I love how a single injury makes a guy who has played in 82, 74, 81, and 76 games in his only four full seasons in the NHL before this one "injury prone".

Not a chance, this would basically be like the Isles offering Comeau, Hunter, and a 3rd for Hall.

Edmonton's (not LA's) 2011 1st rounder would have to be on the table.

You wanna trade Larsson for Streit? Go right ahead.

I'm an Oiler fan OP. Do you realize how good Streit actually is? Do you realize how little the Oiler pieces you included are?

Someone said the Oilers would say no

I also like how Jurcina is thrown in there as well in case the Islanders weren't taking it up the butt enough.

You need to spend more time considering the assets included next time you decide to start a trade proposal thread.

I hope the Oilers target a different Dman than Streit this off-season.

Stortini has no value.

Gilbert really isn't worth much because of his cap/production ratio. Basically what we refer to in NY as the Drury effect. Also known in Edmonton as the Horcoff Effect.

Brule has upside.

Jurcina is what he is, big stay at home defender, not so much a Pilon as a pylon but he's pretty decent so I'd say <= Brule.

Which leaves Streit which I've gotta hand it to the Isles was a solid signing. Certainly Gilbert + Worthless Stortini doesn't come anywhere near the value of Streit who has proven to be one of the better puck rushing defenders in the league on a very affordable contract.

If Edmonton wants other Team's top players they're going to have to start offering up top stuff not spare parts and trash.

Streit may not know what the defensive zone, but even from a Ranger fan I've got to say, in the offensive end, the guy flies like Dan Boyle yet makes 2/3rds his salary and if you want that kind of player he's not going to come cheap.

General rule of thumb....if you are making an offer for a good player, and you are including junk like Stortini and Brule (yes, his 7 goals make him junk), then you aren't paying enough. Players like this have 0 value. You are including them because you know that the rest of the deal is lopsided, so you are looking to add to the package you are giving. But, one plus zero plus zero still equals one.

Snow would laugh so hard at Tambo.

If we want Streit we gotta put in a package like Hemsky + Smid as a base.

The starting point for negotiations would have to be something like the Oilers 2011 1st or Eberle

People around the league need to start realizing and accepting the reality that John Tavares is a star and is unquestionably the Isles best player regardless of who's healthy.

Apologies to Islander fans for the existence of this thread.

No way the Islanders can afford to trade this guy and if they do it's going to have to take a massive overpayment.
