4 to 4.5 for 3 or 4 years. You have to at least give him what Komisarek got. He's also a USA born player on a career year, so some team south of the border will offer him a ton if he goes FA.

Without Wiz, this team is beneath the Leafs.

Even at 5, he is still tradable should management wish.

With Markov and Gorges, the Habs are the NE leaders.

It all depends on Markov's status. With no Markov I'm willing to as high as 4.5m. With Markov I'm willing to go as high as 4M. Paying 5M dollars a year for a guy makes a lot of brain cramps on D is a big mistake. 4.5M is being nice, actually. Paying him more than 4 a year is already pushing your luck in my opinion.

4-4.5 if he keeps it up. We all heard him say how much he and his wife wanted to play here. Let's see how much it actually meant.

If im Wiz though, and the habs only offer 4-4.5, I think its foolish not to test the market, Unless its a longterm 5-6 year deal.

I really wanna see Markov-Subban-Wiz on our D. Add Weber, and we have an all-around slingshot defense.

5.5 is my max. I don't know if he stays here, he reportedly likes Montreal a lot.

Actually, to break it down even better.. he's on pace for 66-points over 82 games as a Hab (21points/26games).

I'd off him 5YR/$20M or 4YR/$18M. Whichever contract he preferred. A little bit more money for an extra year - or more money total, but a year longer.

Then we could give Gorges Hal Gill's money plus the extra from Hamrlik's contract ($3M hopefully).

And then hopefully trade Spacek and re-sign Hamrlik (2YR/$5M) OR Sopel (1YR/$2M)

Our defense would actually be better, with less money spent.

Markov - Subban
Hamrlik - Wiz
Gorges - Weber
Picard/Mara/Carle

Not saying he's worth 5M$ but we have 2 recent comparisons to make...

We weren't ready to pay Streit big bucks and we should have (4.1M$)
We weren't ready to pay Souray big buck and we were right (5.4M$)

Though call, he's only 27, maybe worth around 3.7-4.2 but he's getting more than 4.5M$ in the open market easy IMO
