Teemu Hartikainen Up, Alex Giroux down.

Offensive help for the farm.... Hartikainen gets a deserved look.

The barons are at least getting giroux back, so it's not all doom and gloom for okc.

I hope he does well. He's a good replacement for JFJ.

Cool. Giroux hasn't been bad, but he hasn't been a big help, either. He'd do more good down in OKC, and since he's clearly not part of the big plan here, we don't need to see much more of him. Let's see Hartsky!

Good for him, looking forward to seeing him.

Semi-OT here, Matt Lashoff on re-entry, what would people think about giving him a look? With our terrbile defense and the injuries on top of that might be a decent filler with potential future upside?

Was it not possible just to send Giroux down and call up Hartikainen on gameday? OKC playing tomorrow and wednesday could've really used him.

IIRC, If you claim a player he can't play for your team after the trade deadline.

I think he can play, he is just not elligible for playoffs, thus having no affect on us. That's if I remember correctly.

I dunno, I vaguely remember reading a tweet by one of the TSN guys that they can't play during the remaining regular season either.

(Question, do other people have their 'edit' back now? I'm pretty sure some people have indicated that they got it back after the trade deadline but I still do not have the ability to edit one of my posts, thus if a mistake is made it stays there for good.)

You're right, my bad.
From Bob Mac "One point to consider on FLA's Tim Kennedy being on re-entry waivers - if claimed, he can't play in reg season or playoffs for new team."

Guess that's that.

Pumped to see what Teemu can do! The next Finnish Flash?

In all seriousness though, he deserves a shot and could not only add scoring but some sandpaper as well.

Yeah I agree. At very least have both Giroux and Hartikainen in the line up for the Tuesday game.

I wonder if the injury recall has to happen in a certain time span and so the had to or else they sacrifice one of the 4 recall moves? Just a shot in the dark really. Probably they just didn't think that far ahead.

I don't know if these are considered callups though. Are they not emergency callups?

From what I have seen with the Oilers & read about OKC, it might be wise to offer Giroux the same contract next season as he got this year.

He knows he will remain an injury call-up; and make good coin doing so...

And his experience / talent would be extremely valuable for the kids on the farm team.

I think I recall Stauffer or someone saying Giroux was a different kind of call up that does not count on the 4 allowed. But never gave any details about it. So I am not sure.

I'd be sad to see Giroux leaves the organization. But something tells me he still thinks he can make it to the bigs and will look to the team that gives him the best shot of doing so.

He might almost be able to land a roster spot on the islanders, depending if they draft an NHL ready forward or not.

Ottawa might even take a look at him. And I'd imagine Edmonton is still in the picture.
