I thought I was Myers' biggest fan but after reading this thread I guess not.
Subban and Myers have had even years thus far, but from around 20 games in to the season on, and especially lately, I think Myers has been better. I also think Myers' has the higher ceiling of the two players, and that's no disrespect to PK as I think he is pretty much a sure #1 Dman and, depending on how bad he wants it, might be a Norris finalist eventually (yes, I think he has that potential in him). But with Myers I get a different feeling. Perhaps it's just my not having seen Subban play enough, but Myers seems special to me. He (Myers) gives me a feeling I haven't had about really any Sabre. Admittedly I haven't watched the game for very long, but I don't remember feeling this way even about Vanek after his awesome sophomore year. I don't think he'll ever be in a position to be called best in the league or anything, but one of those guys who's in the conversation for best dman for much of his career? Yeah, I can see that.
Anyways, they're both fine players already (I certainly would love PK on our blueline...) and should be for years to come.
This is a horrible place to put the poll. Of course Sabres fans are gonna say "Myers AINEC".
I still pick Myers though, being as objective as I can. He's done a lot more in his career than Subban and he's younger. Subban is a fantastic player who produces offense, is learning the defensive game very well, and plays with a hell of a chip on his shoulder. He's gonna be a solid top tier defender some day, but I'd say at this point Myers is a step above him.
*heads to Montreal board to see if they have the same sort of landslide voting poll.
So nothing on the Habs or polls boards. What everyone else has said is pretty much there -- after a rough patch of trying to do too much, Myers since November has been defensively responsible both positionally and with his puck security while finding a way to still gallop up the ice in a timely manner. One can see his ability to take away time and space in his own zone, use an active stick and now burgeoning strength to separate people from the puck and then make the breakout with either his passing or feet to push the pace in the opposite direction. Myers is a stunning combo of size, strength and ability. PK's got a great game but Myers right now and going forward, thanks.

I like Subban a lot. but I think Myers is better.
PK is the kind of guy that is good to see growing, but you also sort of wish wasn't in your division. That being said, I wouldn't trade Myers for him straight up, but I would trade Subban for Myers. To each their own.
