Barker for Filatov

Swap of struggling high-drafted players. Both have low value, but have potential.

I think Barker would fit better on Columbus than with the Wild. Ditto for Filatov on Wild than with Columbus.

Barker's making considerably more than Filatov.

I think Columbus would rather just stick with its struggling prospect.

Filatov has been very disapointing so far, but he's not at Cam Barkers level just yet. I have no idea what's happening with Barker, and while I agree he's in need of a change of scenery, I don't think Columbus touches him for that price.

Barker is a lot closer to bust status than Filatov is at this point.

I personally like Cam Barker's style. I'd stick with him in the long run.

I think that has already been done with Barker.

That being said, he is a defenceman and they take longer to develop. Next year will be a make or break year for Cam.

Well, Barker has played, and will continue to play, in the NHL, and Filatov might be in the KHL next year.

Value wise I doubt both would agree.
Possible starting point to a bigger move?

Columbus would be better off holding on to Filatov.

I would not give up more than a 5th round pick for Barker, he is terrible and very overpaid. He has a bomb shot on the PP, that is his only strength.

I feel really bad for Minnesota fans for there GM giving up Nick Leddy for Barker.

Filitov has played far less NA hockey and is not close to being a bust as Barker yet.

no idea why columbus would do that. this from a Wild fan who thinks Barker is under appreciated (relative our other defensemen).

Sure for 1 more year Barker will be in NHL ,, After that it is ?

Barker is a horrendous hockey player and one of the biggest busts of 2000's

Filatov might be struggling but he still has some hpe and is alot cheaper

Cam Barker's stats for the year

52 GP
1 goal
4 assists
-10

Why should a team want a dman who cant play D , Is not very physical (He will throw occasional hit but not often) and is a horrendous skater?

Filatov already went back to the KHL. When he came back here after that season, he said that he had made a mistake going back and he now realized that, as he needs to get used to the North American game.

If Filatov goes back to the KHL again next year, I think he's basically given up on the NHL at that point. I wouldn't expect him to come back. Given that, I think Filatov sticks it out and earns his stripes for a couple of years yet before considering going back to Russia.

Personally, I'd take Filatov over Barker as I believe Filatov has a much higher upside. Although if he doesn't reach it, he'll be Zherdev v2.0.

Agreed. However what if Brodziak for Pahlsson was added in to balance it out, then does it work?

No way Columbus does that. If Filatov never comes back to the NHL, at least you don't have to have Barker playing on your team.

Brodziak has found some pretty good chemistry centering a line with Havlat and Bouchard. I'd expect an overpayment to get him out of Minnesota, not as an add-in to a this trade.

Both sides walk away from this one.
