He's the ultimate nerd yet doesn't have the capabilities to do some interesting digging to come up with something new. The dreaded Réjean Tremblay actually created a character in the tv series "Lance et Compte" from Cantin basically showing him as a clown that can't get laid.

He has his moments (his article on the Habs needing a single boss was great), but like many MSM guys, his analysis of the actual game itself is very shallow to non-existent -- because that's not what sports journalism is actually really about.
He's more about relationships, the human aspect, the tradition, and stuff like needing francophones than he is about actual hockey. And that's what sports journalism is about because it's what the audience generally prefers.

The guy knows very little about hockey. I don't care if he's a nerd and doesn't know how to dress, but if you don't know much about hockey, you shouldn't be talking about it.

This forum bashes every single article coming from the press. It's hard to believe that every single thing written out there is bad. It's far more likely that people here are sensitive and will lash out at any article that's critical of the team (which was all of them this season, cause our team was terrible).

Well, first off, that's not even true.
Articles by Brunet, Godin, and Arpon are usually liked, and those guys are respected.
Others like Bertrand Raymond or Tremblay aren't because 99% of their articles will be about bashing something or someone related to the Habs. Always the same thing.
But even for them, it does happen that they actually write something interesting and people will say things like ''I hate Tremblay, but he's absolutely right''.
So, it's flat out wrong that people here bash every single article.
As for Cantin, he actually can write some good articles, but just not regarding hockey. He's absolutely clueless about the sport. Completely.

Not it's just the medias that are garbage in this province and not only sports journalists. There is some good ones, but I there is so many bad ones that's just ugly.
