Just noticed that ESPN's NHL standings page now has additional columns showing "Regulation + OT wins" versus "Shootout wins", in order to help people work out tiebreaker scenarios.

This must have happened recently, because I haven't seen it before.

http://espn.go.com/nhl/standings

Edit: Note that, while we have fewer overall wins than the Rangers, we would win a tie-breaker with them because we have more non-shootout wins.

I still prefer the minimalist GDTs -- they are better suited to the Buffalo sports inferiority complex that we thrive on.

Anywho, this game is massive -- we need to nail this one solidly. Buffalo Go!

NHL.com standings added a ROW (regulation/OT wins) column to their standings a few days ago.

Win tonight = 6 straight 30 win seasons for Miller.

Obviously a huge game tonight. If we win, we put Carolina way back in the rearview mirror, but if we lose they are nipping at our heels and very much still in the race. I was at the first Carolina game back in January and here's hoping for a similar outcome.

Obviously a huge game, our percentage of making the playoffs has a 20.3% swing tonight according to sports club stats. Regulation win puts us to 90%, regulation loss puts us at 69.7%. Carolina is 1-6-2 in their last 9 road games, I think we make their losing ways continue with a 3-2 win.

Its a big game to not only distance our selves from Carolina, but to also stay up on the Rangers, Thrashers, Leafs, and Devils. Yea the Devils still are kicking around down there. Unbelievable.

We have to keep putting up 2 points on the board or 1 of those teams could sneak up quickly. Big Big games from here on out. Time to go balls to the wall.

What happens in the Rangers-Isles and Atlanta-New Jersey games will affect those percentages as well.

A Sabres win coupled with an Isles regulation win could put us over 90%.

Interestingly, our playoff odds go up if either Atlanta or NJ win in regulation, and they go down only if the game is decided in OT/SO.

Ah yes, that is quite the swing.

All I have to say for tonight is:

SWEEP THE LEG. SWEEP THE LEG

Yes, we could go as high as 91.7% if we win in regulation, the Isles beat the Rangers in regulation, and the Devils / Thrashers game doesn't go into overtime.

I had no idea Vanek was one of only 7 to have 25+ goals every season since the lockout.

BIG game for us, HUGE game for Canes. I'm 5-1-1 this year and I'm also on a 5 game win streak.

That being said, I don't feel good about this one.

Canes - 5
Swords - 2

Just WIN will ya!

Are you sure about that record? Man, the Devils and Bruins games must've stuck with me...

Those were our first 2 - the 0-1-1 part. You and Bas got another OTL with that Isles debacle.

This game just got even bigger. The Sabres are the current defenders of the Unofficial Stanley Cup:

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=880006

The way it works is like this:

At the beginning of the season, the real Stanley Cup Champions hold the title. They keep it until someone beats them, at which point that team is the Unofficial Stanley Cup Champion. It keeps passing around like that. The Sabres took control of it by beating Ottawa the other night.

Those first two sucked, LARGE. We could've had more shots on goal from the 300's than those clowns did.

Well played.

Apparently Pegula's daughters have been tweeting about it, and his wife wanted them to use it as well. WGR picked it up from there.
