Knuble on Arnott - spot on.

Quote:
“His presence on the ice; he’s always been such a smart player. It seems like he’s not moving a lot, but you can’t get the puck from him. He just makes simple, easy plays. His presence has been huge for us as a second center...”
I love it, it doesnt seem like he is moving a lot. Robotic, is the term I use. Like Kozlov. The plays he tries, are just basic things we flat out rarely tried.

Damn though, Arnott is f'in injured. At least he got some chemistry established with everyone beforehand.

Hell's Bells. Week-to-week.

So I guess we'll be seeing Johansson, Backstrom, Laich, Gordon down the middle?

Assuming Backstrom is back soon.

Otherwise MoJo, Laich, Gordon, Beagle...

week to week. read that as 3 weeks at the best case. probably the rest of the regular season is more likely. they must expect he will be able to play in the playoffs as they are not saying anything about the nature of the injury. i am guessing a broken finger.

Well, Nicky's vacation just ended. They've said all along that he *could* play if really needed. I assume they will now deem him needed.

Arnie missed about 5 or 10 minutes a few games ago... anyone see anything there, or in our last game?

For those interested, here's an update of a stat we were discussing a couple weeks ago, team-by-team differential of PP chances and times shorthanded. Good to see that as we've won more games, the refs continue to bone us at ever-increasing levels.

Either that or an equal number of PP on each side since the stat is actually the difference between PP for/against.

Global conspiracy or failure to move your feet in the offensive and defensive zones?

We were one of the top penalized (minors) teams a couple years ago. As a group they take a lot of stupid penalties in the dzone to make up for lack of talent at d (much better this year) and defensively brain dead forwards who don't position themselves for outlet passes or try to support below the blueline.

What's baffling is that this year, their puck pursuit and possession in the ozone has been miserable and consequently, they're not.drawing anything.

The pp discrepancy follows both trends logically.

All I know is that our style of play has done a 180 in the last couple years, yet we were -50 in 08-09, -3 last year, and on track to be -39 this year. And those are 3 100+ point seasons.
