nhl live chatter makes it sound like arnott was injured in nj. that they are "shutting him down".

sounds like he has a nagging injury. he has fit in well and the caps are giving him the road trip off to rest it.

Agree with the prevailing opinion regarding Holtby. Sit him tonight. There were too many signs last game of him losing his form.

Not only is he rubbing off on Semin, but it looks like Semin is having an affect on Arnott

The GMGM comments on Arnott are certainly more encouraging than were the initial reports. It also lends credence to the idea that it's genuinely all about the playoffs for everyone in the organization, and the team doesn't care where it finishes in the standings.

Makes sense. @Stimpy1962: @VogsCaps NHL Live says gmgm is sitting Arnott to rest an old injury and be ready for end of season/playoffs.

I don't mind them keeping guys out (incl. Neuvirth) so as to be as close to 100% as possible when they feel they're needed. It makes more sense to go with Neuvirth against Detroit IMO. That's a tough first game back but I still like his chances better in that sort of situation compared to Holtby.

Tough stretch coming up these next half dozen games and their gap in the standings could shrink pretty quickly if they don't meet the challenge.

Personally I think Arnott should go with them on this trip just for his presence and his Semin chats.

Or it is a chance to rest the injury and while doing so, instead of traveling with the team, give him a chance to go visit his family assuming they are still back in NJ and meet up with the team there.

You can rest an injury even if you're traveling. Visiting his family is nice and all but isn't it his job to help this team win?

What you guys need is avatars that flash Sheen and "Winning" (like you have) and the other picture should be "Whining" and Habs fans protesting....

But that's just me.

And I disagree.

The Caps play 2 games in 2 nights, it's not like this is a roadtrip with downtime and there are telephones. Unless he was going to get permission to stand behind the bench as an additional asst coach (not going to happen since they have 2), no point in traveling with the team in this situation. Also, I was not stating he went to NJ, stating it's a possibility.

He can rest the injury by continuing to play also so where would you like them to draw the line? Anyone who travels extensively will tell you that traveling isn't resting. Also if he is seeing a doctor and/or doing PT that stuff isn't the same on the road.

yes but staying happy and comfortable is also important. we are 12 games away from the playoffs, and he probably won't have much of a chance to see his family between now and elimination. also as others have mentioned, he really wouldn't get much rest or whatever he needs going to 2 games in 2 days.

I like going with Holtby tonight. He's on a winning streak and the Caps get the Wings tomorrow. Perfect scenario for Bruce to start Neuvy if they lose.

I log on and in less than 5 minutes I read that Arnott is out weeks and Bruce called out Canadians as racists/hypocrites.

Christ.

Not sure I like moving Mojo down but he does work well with Knuble.
Damn that's brutal. Though I'd be surprised if he doesn't keep Mojo and OV together.

Losing your #1 and #2 C along with your #1D isn't a recipe for success.

I don't like 8/28 together given the schedule. They should be going for as much balance throughout the lineup as possible.

I'm guessing this game is going to open up and teams are going to trade chances back and forth. Whichever goalie holds the fort better will get his team the W.

2 or 3 fights tonight, maybe even a brawl.
