AHL Approves Rule Changes

http://www.canoe.ca/AHL/News/2004/07/05/526056.html

No touch icing, tag up rule, shoot out, etc.....

Also for Mets fans, the Norfolk Tides ownership has purchased the Norfolk Admirals.

Interesting. This is going to be a chance to see the future--especially since there will be increased exposure (due to the lockout) in the hockey world to AHL games next fall.

I hate the idea of a shootout in the NHL though.

As much as I hate the idea of a shootout ending ties in the NHL, I think it will actually help to attract a lot more people to hockey.

Really, on the off-chance that that a game (including a 5 minute overtime) is going to end in a shootout? That's going to make a difference to a general public that's more interested in watching car racing?

It's just another gimmick.

I shootout will help draw fans? You have to be kidding. Just a little more to be added to the overall bastardizing of the game because you know the NHL won't be far behind in adopting those rules.
