I went with Kovy for team MVP. I immediately take out the first half of the season into consideration because no matter how well any player was playing then, whatever they were doing didnt matter because our team was aweful. So basically since Lemaire came back on my options to vote for would be Kovy, Elias, Zajac, Marty, Moose. Moose and Marty have both stolen us games but they kindve cancel each other out because both has had long streaks of winning and carrying the team. So, the three forwards. Kovy gets my vote because of his timely goals and his ability to ignite the fanbase and his teammates.
I chose Tallinder. He is playing suberb, like a #1 defenceman. When did he last time make a mistake that lead to a goal? I cant remember. Countless times we've witnessed him getting the puck in 1v1 situations. He has scored some goals and contributed to offense with good opening passes. I think Tallinder's level of play is exactly what Lou had in mind when he signed him. We'd be battling for president's trophy had we kept JL and players like Tallinder, Kovy, Rolston and Brodeur would've been playing to their level from the start on.
Um... last night when he just stood directly in front of and screened Brodeur on goal #2
Plus countless times all season. Yes, he has improved, but he still gets scored on. He is the worst (Greene has an argument) at playing on the crease. Basically, every time he gets scored on, he was either flatfooted on the crease, at the wrong part of the crease, or he was just not moving anyone on the crease. He's doing very well moving around in space, but he looks lost down low. It doesn't help that he doesn't even have the strength to push a couch.
He's also terrible at clearing the puck. The icing queen.
Eats a lot of of minutes, and he has improved, but he's not even close to MVP.
I'm voting Rolston. The guy was just pretending to be injured and or suck for the past two seasons, so that the other guys wouldn't feel bad and so he could show how good a guy he is in the face of diversity and how good of a teammate he is.
And just when everyone is all pissy about him and the season is at his worst and looks lost, tada, he shows he can play with the best of them.

He's been trolling everyone all along.
damn. i didn't think someone would have actually voted for rolston. ****ing troll. i've been trolled.

Yep, other Devils players are pissed we have foreigners and black guys on our roster, but not Rolston, because he is a great guy in the face of diversity.
Am I the only one who thinks the difference between Tallinder pre-January and the Tallinder now is like night and day? If you look at his level of play now and compare it to what it was before and try to forget his nationality, im sure a lot of you people are going to agree with me.

I'm not sure we've been watching the same last 25 games. Tallinder is easily the best puck distributor on the breakout.
It's weird that the goalies are not on the list. If it was not for Hedberg completely standing on his head in a few games when they were completely outplayed in the beginning of the stretch we would not be talking playoffs now, at all.
Not saying he's bad, but he's far from "perfect" recently, as the other poster basically proclaimed him as; "can't remember last time he led to a goal"
And he does have a nice breakout pass, but way too often he just freaks out and sends a desperation dump for an icing. He, Volchy and White are playing the best out of the d-men, but they also probably lead the team in icings if they kept it as a stat.

Lots of people overreacted about Tallinder. He looked lost for a reason. He was playing on a perfect storm of a bad team and he was new to the team. It takes time to adjust to new systems and players. Similiar to people saying we should demote Steckel or get rid of him somehow after 2 games. Tallinder has been really good in this stretch, now he just needs to shack Fayne out of his tiny funk.

Tallinder was arguably one of the worst players on the worst team at the start of the season
That isn't overreacting, sure everybody else not named Elias stunk too, but to be among the worst on the worst team.......

Zajac was as good, and IMO more consistent than, Elias at the start of the season too. His offense was meh, but it always is. He was great on D, and he still is. This team would be worse off losing Zajac than any other player IMO.

I agree to an extent......Zajac was consistent at doing the little things (in the corners, working on the board, as you mentioned smart defense) but the only thing that I don't agree with (which you mention) is his offense was inconsistent.....9 pts in the first 2 months of the season

Elias was just plain BAD during the first week of Mac. He woke up really quickly and stayed consistent, but remember all of his behind the back passes in our own zone?
