Dany Heatley

Any takers this summer? I don't know about you, but I think Clowe deserves to be a top 3 forward on the Sharks and the #1 LW - he's been amazing this year. Plus they need to move Couture permantently up to the top 6, this kid is the real deal.

Clowe-Thornton-Marleau
Couture-Pavelski-Setoguchi

That's still a very good top 6.

Typically a left-winger. He plays right wing occasionally, though he hasn't done it over long stretches since Michalek was traded.

I take it you've never watched a Sharks game. Clowe and Thornton on the same line is straight out of the redundancy department of redundancy. The Sharks are trying to run three scoring lines and right now they look something like this:

Marleau--Thornton--Setoguchi
Clowe--Couture--Heatley
Mitchell--Pavelski--Wellwood

Ideally, the Sharks will re-sign Wellwood and try to find an upgrade to Mitchell while ditching his contract. I'd like to trade Heatley but he likely has negative value so I just don't think it would be worth the Sharks' time. Cap hit aside, he's probably one of the best second liners in the NHL. They're obviously not going to get a young, fast top six forward for him (*cough*Michalek*cough*) so it would take another deal and separate assets to replace him while improving the team. It's just not worth it.

I'd honestly rather have Heatley at 7.5 than Bozak at 3.2 or whatever it is. Gardiner is completely redundant as the Sharks' pipeline is overloaded with one-dimensional puck movers on the back end.

He would look good on the right side of Moulson and Tavares, but I doubt the Isles would be giving up what he would cost.

To get Dany Heatley wouldn't cost much. What you're paying for is the right to call him Dany Heatley ****in' Allstar.

Tanguay - Morrison - Iginla
Heatley - Backlund - Borque
Kostopolous - Jokinen - Moss
Bouma - ??? - Hagman

Regehr - Giordano
Babchuk - Sarich
Staios - Erixon

Assuming we sign Staios, Morrison, Tanguay and Babchuk I wouldn't mind having this.

I hate the guy too but the fact of the matter is he has done all three this year. Not excellently by any stretch and not even close to meriting his paycheck but he's done them.

It was more of a joke than fact, but I dont think it would be wise for any team hoping to compete for a cup to take him.

7.5 million for a goal scorer who is declining hard. Plus he disappears when the going gets tough.

7 points in the Olympics last year. And it's not like he wasn't trying his all last post-season. His effort was there every game, injuries just stopped him from making a significant impact.

I know people nag on him for going 2-11=13 in the PO's last year over 14 games, but injury aside, his goal scoring has historically dropped significantly in the Playoffs, while his assists per game drastically climbs.

I want an upgrade to Mitchell (someone with the same speed but with some actual talent) and the Sharks have a SCARY top-9, and trading Heater for pieces + cap dump would not be worth it at all, unless we get some serious picks and/or talented scoring prospects.

jaybo would be worth it though

id rather have a stacked d with jaybo than a solid top 9 with heater

calgary would never do it though

Heatley f sucks.

He brings NOTHING other than when he scores.

And he is not scoring enough to justify his 7.5 mill cap hit.

Slow as hell also.

Character issues also.

I complain about Heater as much as the next guy, but we have zero character issues with him in SJ, unless there's some secret drama that we don't know about.

A few picks, a hug and a ticket to a yankees game?
