He can play LW or C and he can man the point on the PP, as well as be a great PK'r and shorthanded goalscorer. I would hope we don't pay him $4 mill a year for 4 years though and if that means we lose out, so be it.
Holik is more valuable in a checking role. Thats the bottom line. He can teach all those kids who will be playing with him, how to play that role.

I'm thinking "Hooked On Phonics" is something you might want to investigate...and, maybe a high school level course on Grammar and Composition.

Suiting up a roster of kids isn't going to help anyone. You need a few vets to show the kids the ropes. Mellanby at 38 would do just fine because he won't be blocking any kids in the future. He would be a cheap, shortterm pickup. Might even be able to trade him at the deadline. He is also still a gritty player and an undersized player like Lundmark would benefit from having him on his line. Any other questions?

Looks like the Panthers are gonna sign Mellanby back, Kennan said it himself, so we can forget that.

I'd heard that as well, so, don't think I'm sitting here with a candle lit vigil for Mellanby. He's just the kind of vet I think we should be targeting.

Gee, anybody wonder what a rebuilding team like the Panthers might want with a guy like Mellanby?

Fan favorite, class guy...I'm not trying to disagree with you, he is exactly the type of guy we need to lead the way.

So because the Panthers signed him it means they made the right move ?
Oh , I forgot that every move Mike Keenan makes is great...
