He'll get a chance, but history shows that despite his best efforts he doesn't make the most out of his chances. I don't have romantic ideas as to what he brings to the team since I've seen him really bring nothing for years. He's a likebale kid, but if anyone says he hasn't deserved his demotions the are watching with their hearts instead of their eyes brains.
His time appears to be running out, but the one thing he has going for him is the Kings are a little thin on the RW if somebody should get injured. If Williams, Simmonds or Brown were to go down for any particularly long period of time, then we really need to have OM waiting in the wings.
I also think he is a DL kind of guy, so he also has that going for him. If the Kings can get him to sign for the right number, I don't mind having him as our spare Right Winger. With his injury history, I don't know how well he'd hold-up for a full 82 game NHL season though. So I don't really ever see him being more than a spare part.

Not this year at least not to me and my heart doesn't have eyes but then my brain doesn't have its own eye's either.
Moller has proven that he is a capable scorer at the NHL level and has improved each time he has been called up especially so this year.
The only real problem with OM is that he plays a physical game and until recently he hasn't been physically developed enough to remain healthy while doing so.
This year has been a huge year in his development and during his short call up he again proved that he can score in the NHL and he has learned to play a smarter game where his physical play is concerned.
So I see him as a player who should be with us next year on our bottom 6 but regardless of what our management might say I see him doing so for another team. I also think that he is more suited to playing on the top 6.

I think Moller knocks Smyth down to the 3rd line next year.
Having Moller on the second line next year would be just so fine. Having Smyth on the third line...what about Clifford he's got to be the odds on favorite to move up and maybe one day be the top LWer on the Kings

He has earned a good chance, but it's up to him to prove he can stay in NHL as a top 6. So far he hasn't earned anything else and he has no "rightful spot" in the team.
I sure wish Smyth was a Chris Drury type so we could reasonably stick him on the 4th line to be minimally effective with his diminishing skillset.
I can't see it though. He doesn't grind, he doesn't backcheck very well, he doesn't play a tough, gritty game. I sure hope Edmonton is interested in bringing him back for a victory lap next season.

i love little Oscar... and as adorable as he is, he doesn't 'deserve' jack!
he's proven very little other than he has a heavy workload ahead if he wants to be an everyday player at the NHL level. the need for Oscar only appears evident because we think he can be a boon to a weak powerplay, which should prove to be his bread and butter in terms of success on the stat sheet... that's likely where he'll get most of his points.
... and a powerplay specialist alone is not enough for Moller to fat out anyone currently playing in the top six... and don't get any foolish ideas about him playing on the bottom 6 either.
This and this again. I still think he is trade bait. Didn't DL say something about only so many little guys on the team. With Loki (who is a better center) and Kozun, and Weal on the way were does he fit. Everybody is saying 2nd line LW. Sorry folks Smyth has that locked up and with Loki or Schenn centering that he will get another 20+ goals. Kinda sucks for him because of all the little guys we have in the system. To me he is just middle of the road which we have alot of in the pipe line.

Exactly right about Smyth. Atleast guys like Gomez and Drury while as grossly overpaid as Smyth can atleast add other things on the ice, can play a solid two way game. Smyth is pretty much Steve Heinze out there, if he isn't scoring he is totally worthless. He does nothing else on the ice, no grit, awful defensively, not physical.
I just don't see how it could hurt to bring up Moller and give him a chance to maybe give a spark to the 2nd line. The Kings second line has been the worst line in the NHL for the past 15 games so it's not like he would be messing with something thats working. But unfortunately that is never going to happen because Terry is going down with the veteran ship. We didn't keep Loktionov and Schenn up this season in favor of Stoll, we haven't given Moller much of a chance in favor of Smyth and now we are stuck with one of the worst lines in the NHL. Sure would be nice to have Schenn or Lokti on this squad right now.
As for the offseason, I have a hard time seeing the Oilers bringing Smyth back. A few weeks ago I was hopeful but at this point he isn't close to being NHL player. And even though his actual salary is smaller than his cap hit, $4 million is still $4 million and the Oilers fanbase seems solidly behind their rebuild. They won't need to bring back washed up former stars to sell seats. I am hoping like hell he just retires but considering he is a money first kind of guy he will be coming back unless the Kings buyout.
